Don’t know if this helps, but when our dishwasher went down last year, the difference between the estimate for someone to come out and do “minor” repairs and the cost of a new diswasher was about $75. If this isn’t covered by some kind of warrenty, and the dishwasher is around 10 years old or more, you will probably be better off with a new one.

I had a dishwasher repaired once by a large chain store repair service. What ever they did to fix the minor problem, burnt out the control board and I ended up having to buy a new dishwasher anyways.

No one would take the FW in on trade. Same dishwasher for almost 29 years….Does a good job, just makes a lot of noise.

I might listen to these guys, it is usually only worth having a dishwasher repaired if it is under warranty from my experiences and others I know, or get a used one off CL, dime a dozen!

There are some great sales right now and does your power company give an additional rebate on an Energy Star appliance? The gov. is going to be rolling out a government program this Nov. to give you an additional $50 to $150 rebate. I had to go new also after the main board blew. Ended up with last years $400 model for $50 after rebates and a deep discount at Lowes for it being last years model and them needing to get it out of inventory.

After thinking about it, it would be smarter to buy a new one.

Not to mention we are remodeling the kitchen next year with new appliances and cabinets so it doesn’t pay to get it fixed then replace it.

    Thanks guys.

    Kraig,
My wife got so tired of flakey electronic control board failures that she picked-out the cheapest, 1 rotary knob model that Sears offered. Other than the fact that it doesn’t have as much noise insulation as some of the more $$$ models, it works just fine.

I have two year old unit sitting in my garage that

I bought as a backup from my neighbor, he remodeled, last summer.

It was purchased new in May of 07.

Let me know if you want to take a look at it.
