I’ve heard rumors of a 55lb. northern caught within the past 2 weeks on Rainy Lake. It supposedly munched on a 10lb pike on the end of a guys line and they scooped it up in their landing net when it wouldn’t let go.
    Anyone hear anything?

The fish in question is indeed “scary big” but it wasn’t caught on Rainy. It is in fact a European fish. And that fish story has been linked to Mille Lacs, Rainy, LOTW and numerous other bodies of water. I guess a fish that big deserves a story with retelling. And people sure have spread it around.

New record Northern Pike caught n Canada !

    Okay!!!
Here’s why I don’t go swimming in Lakes. Not even in Rainy Lake !

    WOW!!

This is a new record Northern Pike in Canada .. He caught it on Rainy Lake ..
Check this thing out.. The man (in the photos below), was fishing and caught a 36″ Pike.
As he was reeling it in, a 56″ – 55 lb Pike tried to eat it !!!!!

He landed them both in the same net. The last picture is unreal.

I heard it was caught right after this tornado went through downtown Minneapolis.

If that fish was hooked on Rainy there is a distict chance a big walleye would munch it before it made its way to the Beckman!!

We know the story changes a lot,,but does anyone know if the stats on the fish are correct? They seem to stay the same with each story i’ve seen.

Based on the true article from the Netherlands the actual length & weight converted is 49.99″ (127 cm) long and weighted 42.9 lbs (19.5 kg). Nice pike that’s for sure.

Big G…if that picture starts showing up in emails…I’m thinking there will be people looking for you.

Kirt, if it did have whiskers it wouldn’t be so dang slimy.
