The DNR building will be the first stop, but anything fishing related after that?

I’m guessing not too many have been there yet.

If you are going to be there or know someone that has a outdoors related booth…please post it here.

If no one replies, I’ll be force to hang out at the deep fried spam booth Saturday morning.

    6. Giggles Campfire Grill (Walleye cakes)
    7. Pronto Pup Stand

I’ll be looking for a full report tonight(?)!

Skip the food though, I can find that myself.

    6. Giggles Campfire Grill (Walleye cakes)

    This sounds interesting.

A boat dealer from the Northern metro has an impressive lineup of Skeeters and Rangers. Well worth the stop! On machinery hill. The DNR building is actually getting kind of ‘ol hat for me.

Otherwise, grab some fries, cheese curds, a pronto pup or two and a cold beer, sit back and check out the most interesting part of the fair…..the people.

Agree with the above post on Fan Central. BK, you’ll especially be impressed with the Vikings campaign for a new stadium!!

giggles is a must stop for me too, according to the website, they have a new menu item, sunnies:

NEW food this year: Sunfish filets in a boat! Big game bratwurst (elk, buffalo, pork), elk burgers, salmon wraps, salmon on-a-stick, walleye fries, hickory pork, walleye cakes, foot-long walleye sandwiches, porcupine meatballs on-a-stick (wild rice and ground pork), steak fries, sunfish

The family is headed to the fair this afternoon. The first thing Amanda wants to do is get her hair encased in hairspray, paint & glitter (Fair Hair), Tyler wants to go play games and go on rides & Francis wants to look at the fish pond & climb the fire tower. We will eventually hit the spin art booth, the barns and every boat dealer on the fair grounds. We will also take a lap around the grandstand. In between all that we will stop for a pork chop, cheese curds, roasted corn, corn dog, mini donuts, a large pickle, turkey jerky, Ausie fries and ….. Good thing were made of money – NOT!

Are all the boat dealers there in one area or are they all spread out over the 320 acres?

Sunfish on a boat? That sounds excellent! I could go grab one of those, a pork chop on a stick, the DNR building, Packer curds and corn on the cob and be done. Oh, forgot the beer to wash it all down.

The one thing that always bothers me is the smell…

…but if the wind is blowing right, the smell from the animal barns will mask it.

My favorite…the good old scotch egg!! How can you go wrong with breakfast all in one. Hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage…batter and fry…

Just doesn’t get much better for me…lol

    You can come see me
Definitely a booth full of “fishing related stuff”

Half way between the DNR Fish Pond and the All-You-Can-Drink Milk booth, then look west (across Clough Street).

Or for Bone Mover; two booths north of Scotch Egg.

There’s a beer garden with live music just to the north of us but pleeeease learn from BK’s mistakes and don’t ask me to sing.

I thought that WAS you singing!

When I spotted the Wilcraft sign I thought…alright the bikini ice team!!

….but this was as close as I came to a bikini….

Thanks for the good conversation Don. Good seeing you again.

    Yaaaahooooo
Last time I was out of a job, I spent all winter icefishing.
Soon as the fair’s over let’s head north; by the time we get to Fairbanks there should be just enough ice for a “demo ride”.

Remember to bring your extension along for the Solo Don!

On a side note…I’m not sure what happened to Saturday morning…except that my favorite wife was involved.

Lot’s of paddle fish in the dnr pond. BIG pike and muskies. I didn’t see the more popular fish in the pond, like flathead or channel cats.

BK, there were a couple flatheads in the pond over by the perch.

Anybody try the deep fried pickles? They looked good, but I didn’t care for the line to get them. Tried the chocolate dipped bacon with salt sprinkled on it from Famous Daves. They were ok, but we were disappointed that they were chilled. Bacon just is not right cold.

Those flatheads where calling my name!

Next time down to Everts, stop in the The Bluff’s. Shooter has deep fried pickles on the menu all the time…don’t forget to ask for drawn butter!

I did have to check out the Minnesota snakes inside the DNR building…the fw waited outside.
