These were administrator accounts. Set up during site design/testing.

FTR had a unique look and was definitely not a copy cat site. Rivers can be a challenge to fish for anyone, newbie fishermen or experienced lake guy. The site was setup this way…ask a question and three, four or more guys would help you out. That continues today. The layout and ease of finding what you were looking for, getting up to date information along with some new methods of fishing. That level of detail was driven by mr h2o himself and still exists today. And oh yeah, we had some characters back then too but nothing as original as the catfisherman himself bk. I still say I can catch those things on a cow pie. Or berkley gulp, both of which are never allowed in my boat.
aka…JonNAugust 29, 2009 at 11:01 am #801271That’s the first time I’ve been called original…weird is what I hear most often.
I came off the water at the Windmill Marina on the St Croix in Aug of ’02 and noticed a decal stuck to the wall.
Since I love to fish and seldom “caught” I thought I would check it out. Two weeks later I was a member and haven’t shut up since.
Prior to becoming a member here, my largest walleye was 4.5 pounds…and only one that was close to that size. I didn’t know what a flathead was..besides a Harley engine and I thought Sturgeon were extinct.
I’ve met so many good people through this site it’s mind boggling. Some that I’ve never actually met in person but can still call close friends. It’s crazy!
Since Rob posted a photo…I had to hunt back to a post from April of ’03 for my favorite pic of James. It might not be on his top ten list…but I chuckle everytime i come across it.
It’s in the last 5 seconds of Mastering River Plastics, a great video by Dustin and James for the person new to plastics and or the river.
Somethings just never die James.
August 29, 2009 at 11:36 am #801275My fishing buddy Steve DeZurik was the one who introduced me to the site. He kept on telling me to register as a member. After being a lurker for a couple of years, I finally signed on. The main reason for not signing on right away was that I didn’t know if I could contribute anything to the site or if I was a good enough angler. I know… kind of funny now when I’m on the Field Staff team. I also didn’t know if I wanted to be associated with other people that I didn’t know. Would I fit in?
Well over the last 4 years IDO has literally changed me as an angler and as a person. The amount of knowledge that I’ve learned from this site (fishing and not about fishing) has been absolutely incredile. However, what I love the most about the site is the relationships and friedships that I have been able to build along the way. I’ve met so many good people on the site willing to help out. They are now my closest friends and I share more about my life with fellow IDOers than anyone one else. The passion of fishing and hunting keeps us together. I also believe that I’ve actually become a better person from the site. Or maybe, it’s brought out the best in me. I listen better, I look at things from the other side and I look for the best in people.
Thank you IDO for allowing me to be part of your family. If are a guest and you are reading this, register as a member by clicking on the green Register button in the upper left hand corner. Don’t be like me and lurk the site as long as I did. I wasted a couple of years worth of friendships. I guarantee, you will thank me down the road.
