I was wondering the best way to combat snakes getting into a garage is? it sealed up pretty good but they seem to find there way in where the water lines for the outside boiler comes in,and then they coil up around the boiler in the garage. looking for some ideas?

Farm and Fleet has snake repelant or try a pellet gun???
I could send the Favorite Wife, she’s the Snake Charmer in the family.
August 25, 2009 at 5:37 pm #800271You can get glue traps for them, and put them along the wall edges. They are cardboard triangles that are glue on the inside. If you catch them, you need to take them at least 1 mile away from your house before you release them, or they will find their way right back to your home.
August 25, 2009 at 6:13 pm #800288Release them?!?!?
Out of curiosity, what kind of snakes are they?
I’m really glad I don’t have this problem. Spiders don’t bother me (remembering the wolf spider post from yesterday), but snakes are a different story!
August 25, 2009 at 6:14 pm #800289Collect a bunch and drop them off in BK’s yard when he is not looking.
August 25, 2009 at 6:42 pm #800301Are we talking about big bull snakes here? When I was a youngster living in Red Wing, those things would get in our garage and lay against the garage door in the morning to warm up. I can remember Mom going out to go to work and finding them–she likes snakes about as much as Mrs. BK I remember several of them falling to Dad’s shovel
Sorry, no advice on keeping them out

What does your mom have against Mrs. BK? I’ve never met her, but she puts up with Brian so she must be a saint.

I would hate to see them killed for no good reason.
Sorry Suzuki, but that is just the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Not that I condoan needless killing of critters…..but it is a snake. YUCK!!!!!!
August 25, 2009 at 8:01 pm #800321I hardly think it’s dumb. They are there for a reason. I’m outdoors a lot and haven’t even seen a snake this year. Believe me, I have killed more snakes that most people,(in my youth) but now have a soft spot for them. For the record I am not scared of snakes like most people and have no problem picking them up. SAVE THE SNAKES!

If you would know Mike…you would know that any reason would be a good reason to kill them to him. Just a play on words.
Kind of reminds me of a post about lead on Mother Earth by Dave.
August 25, 2009 at 8:06 pm #800325I wasnt joking. Really! I have a soft spot for toads and snakes because as a youth I did not…
I have on occasion even been known to help turles across the road. Again, trying to make up for my misdeeds as a youth.
Consiquently I have tons of experience ‘taking them out’ but I digress……August 25, 2009 at 8:07 pm #800327When we had horses and grain we had mice and rats.I would collect the bull snakes in the spring while mushroom hunting and bring them home. They are good to have around for pest control.
Try to seal up your boiler pipes and spread some moth balls around the outside where you think they are coming in. If your not adverse to catching them do it and drop them off at my place.( The old quarry off of spring creek)August 25, 2009 at 8:14 pm #800332Quote:

What a coincidence, Kooty has been known to help sheep when their head gets stuck in a fence

How many good reasons would it take?

I know where you’re going with this Chris and NO I will NOT suck the venom out any part of your body.
I will however kill the snake that bit you.
