    Hey all,
    More thinking = More questions…
I don’t have a high dollar budget for fishing. I fish the Lightning Rods from Berkley, they’re in my price range and I think for the money they are very good.
My question is, Can someone explain what is meant by a rod having a slow or fast taper or soft tip? What does that mean? When I look at a rod and I read that it is MH,ML M or H I don’t think this has anything to do with the “taper”.Thanks in advance.
    Tight lines,

Slow and fast taper has to do with how the rod bends. A fast taper means that the rod is stiffer throughout and bends more towards the tip. A slow taper bends more throughout the entire rod blank. Fast tapers are more sensitive, slow tapers are mroe forgiving.

I’d also take a good look at the St. Croix Triumph line in the same basic price range…more models/styles to choose from and these come with faster actions than the Berkleys. The TRS66MF is a great all round Walleye/Bass rod.
