    Hey all,
I’ve been thinking…Now I have questions. Regarding Twister tails – you’re supposed to thread them tail hook down, I think. Is there any reason, pro or con, for this and is there a special technique that works with the tail threaded with the tail hook up? Just wondering…

For me, the end of the tail doesn’t seem to get rehooked as much when they are tail down. Also, you don’t need to impart as much action to get the tail moving.JMO

I usually thread hook tail up. I think it gives a bit more action as its pulled through the water. Just my preference.. .. Tight Lines!

I tend to go tail down when dragging or pitching shallow ,it stirs the bottom a little . Right or wrong ,it has worked well for me on the river

Tail down tends to help keep the tail off the hook. Last thing you want is the hook set into the tail when a fish hits.

If you try it one way, then the other you will see that one has a ripple affect and the other has a waddle affect. Some twisters, because of their molding process or the thickness of the tail, can only be rigged one way. But either way produces a different “WAKE SIGNATURE”. This is the vibration the tail puts out in its wake. Sometimes the tail position may be better for jigging than say for trolling or pulling. Sometimes paddle tails are a better choice because they produce a copletely differnt wake signature. Do some experimenting and if one is not working try the other. Sometimes the fish want that little ripple. Other times they want that wide waddle.
