catarac surgery

Went in yesterday and had catarac surgery on my L eye. Was a piece of cake. Went this AM for the day after check up. Already 20/30 vision. Dr said it was because I have very healthy eyes. I was amazed at the brightnes of everything and how well I could see. So I asked him about having the other one done as it seems I’m almost blind in the R eye after seeing the results of the L eye. So he checked and I will be having the R eye done as soon as the L is healed. No more glasses except for reading and close work. And maybe not even for that. WOW!! Will be setting me back on my fishing some but oh well. Guess the fish will wait for me.
If anyone out there has catarac’s do not hesitate to have them taken off. They can cause total blindness. And if I can do it anyone can. I was very nervous when I went in. But I didn’t feel a thing. Didn’t even need any pain medication.

I didn’t know you were going in for your eye…

I thought you were “lookin'” pretty good last week.

I just found out last week that I have early stage cataracts. I’m 59 the Doc just wait till you can’t see then get them taken care of. Why would they wait. I’ve noticed blurry vision at times. Or am I too young or something? I’d love to get rid of the specs if I could.

rubbertoe, you are never too young to have catarac’s. And if not taken care of they can cause permant blindness. I’d go for a second opinion. Good luck

Don’t wait till it gets so bad you can’t see. Age is not a factor, the meds I took before I had my knee replaced I found out actually advanced my very early stage cataracts…NICE…they don’t tell you about possible side effects! SO I just had my cataracts taken care of in march and april and I just turned 46 the end of july. You just don’t realize what you are missing, the colors and glare really mess you up. Before surgery I was 20/800 in both eyes and my glasses were 1/2″ thick…thank God for contacts. Now I am just shy of 20/20 without glasses and 20/15 with them, still needed bifocals to see up close, I was so bad before my nose got in the way ! My new glasses hardly fill the frames ! I really worried my eye doctor before surgery…told him I didn’t need my glasses to drive…I just needed them to find the car. His poor assistant couldn’t keep from snickering and I couldn’t keep a straight face either when he finally figured it out ! I was just in Cedar Rapids yesterday for a followup visit, I had developed secondary cataracts in the capsule they leave in to support the new lense, a few painless shots with a YAG cold lazer and it’s clear as ever! Go back in 2 weeks to do the right eye, he wouldn’t do both the same day, just in case something went wrong.

Glad to hear the surgery went well, unfortunately now you’ll know how ugly BK truly is, and you’ll be tossing the treats at him while you scramble to get back into the car….

Do you suppose this is why Dean keeps him around???? Kind of like the old mangy dog on the farm. Run off riff-raff?? It’s obviously not for his mechanical ability.
