Do you think old number 4 is looking forward to having this beast line up in the Vikings back field?

    Peterson

Here’s my question. It’s completely hypothetical, but bare with me. Imagine Mike Tomlin (1 Super Bowl Ring already) were the head coach of the Vikings, pretend he has the exact same roster as Childress has right now… Would he have begged Favre to come out of retirement? Any thoughts?

I’ve never really been a Viking fan. However, I am a big fan of the game of football and Peterson can flat out play. He can run the stretch like no other. His decieving speed leaves defenders taking short angles of attack. He can plant and take a 3 yard lateral move and create space without even moving forward. Truly gifted.
Farve should appreciate having him in the backfield.

Tomlin? Probably not. What does Tomlin have to do with Peterson lining up behind Favre?

I think Chilly is using it as a smokescreen for his mistake with TJack. Sounds like he will be traded or released by Friday so signing Favre will distract the Queen fans (I hear they are easily distracted ) from realizing Chilly passed up other QBs because TJack was the future…

Thompson lets both of our starting guards go

Thompson has opportunity to pick up Moss for a 4th round pick
    *two times*

We have been way under salary cap last three years

Thompson shows Favre the door after a 13-3 season
*Has never happened in history of NFL*

Favre put in his years at green bay and was shoved out the door.

Seems you and Len are in the minority in my very informal poll. Reading blog replies on ESPN and other sport sites and listening to interviews of local GB rube radio announcers. Seems ol’ #4 is now the devil.

Like I said, it sucks for you guys. But really, do you want a 40 year old QB? Sadly, it was a huge upgrade for us.

Oh how history gets blurred. Thompson did not show him the door. He retired (remember one of his reasons that he told Peter King was he knew the Packers were not going to be able to repeat the miracle of the 13-3 year, probably because they didn’t have the same cupcake schedule). The packers moved on. Then Favre said he wanted to play again. The Packers were sick of being held hostage every year and said no thanks. It also seems like people also only remember 2007 but forget about 2005 and 2006 when he was awful. I’m still shocked people are pissed that the Packers are playing Rodgers instead of Favre, but I guess you can’t blame the Favre-backers are just too in love with Saint Favre.

    Rodgers is a good qb
Bet his stats are better than Favre’s this year.

Thompson basically blew *2* super bowl appearances for the packers. He should go down in the record books at the WORST GM Green Bay has ever had.

How’s that OLD saying go……you cant polish a turd it just gets older, more brittle and smells worse

I think it’s funny how everybody including the media is all hyped up about Favre when the fact of the matter is he isnt worth a thing I wouldnt even want him in BK’s boat. Can you say old and washed up? I know I can. Sure he WAS a legend IN HIS TIME, but that time has come and gone. The Vikes should have never put that #4 on thier jerseys and after 1 or 2 good sacks and Favre is out due to injury the Vikes fans are going to realize that UH OH Childress just made ANOTHER stupid mistake. I think Favre should be banned from football. KNOW WHEN IS WHEN BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!! The ONLY good thing that could come of this is that Favre got the Jets coach fired last year so maybe the same could happen to the Vikes

just my 2 cents on this lame long drawn out Favre saga/drama bench him……..forever

This is true (in regards to B. Curtis’s post) Favre wasn’t booted, contrary to popular belief. True, there was plenty of animosity after it was all said and done, but Favre chose to retire. He was given the opportunity to stay, but didn’t. After 3 years of listening to him waffle, he called it quits and GB ran with it. May not be the popular decision for some, but probably the right move. To quote a friend of mine, “Favre waffleing for last 3 years in GB = managment forced to decide on 12 years with a franchise QB or ride out Favre Soap Opera for ? years. easy decision . Favre bought his own ticket out of GB early”…

As I recall Favre blew it against the Giants? What other one could you possibly be referring to?? I sure hope you didn’t believe the Pack would have gone last year with Favre? That would be laughable with the Packers D (which I guess you can blame on TT, or maybe the defensive coordinator) and much tougher schedule. I agree TT is not the greatest, but he certainly isn’t the worst. If I recall the Packers were not very good in the 70s and 80s. He has built a pretty solid team, no??

    LenH,
Please explain this comment. I have no idea what you mean by it. They came close to a SB appearance 2 years ago, but if my memory serves me correctly, wasn’t it the Mississippi Hicky that threw that bone headed interception in OT when he had a couple other guys wide open?

I agree Thompson has made a couple mistakes with his draft picks (Brohm, Harrell), but cutting ties with the purple pimple (Farve) isn’t one of the mistakes.

In the end.. the true GB end… he was booted…. I heard the press conference myself…. it is forever on tape, for proof. Whatever happened before that… doesn’t matter… he didn’t retire or quit… he was not welcomed by the Pack… or even allowed to compete for the starting job. That’s a boot in my book…..

Yes he is !!! And Brett Favre.. whom the Pack “traded” to the Jets (he didn’t retire or quit”) is still a great QB. Together, I am looking for them to do wonderful things in the backfield and downfield

Don’t you guys ever get tired of hearing about Favre? The truly sad part of this ego maniac, and now unfortunately you Vikes fans, is that for the next 3-4 years YOU get to go through the “I’m retired” “No I’m not” scam this has been pulls. Favre SUCKS!

I have watched every single game that Favre has played. His skills started eroding 5 years ago. check out his playoff record over the last several years. abysmal.
One of the best lines I read
“The Vikings – they of the Onterrio Smith Whizzenator, Minnetonka Love Boat, the four failed Super Bowls and that pup tent of a stadium they play in- and Brett Farce, uh, Favre deserve each other. Truly a match made in Mankato, don’t you think?”

Check out his numbers from 2007….???? Like Lambeau is such a great stadium…. they call it history ??? It should be…. just like the dome Some high schools have nicer stadiums…. Like GB doesn’t have any skeletons in its closet ??? I can think of a few But I think it petty to be so envious (which I guess I am not, because I won’t point out) to slander and bring up past issues, to a team (presently speaking) that had nothing to do with anothers behaviour years and decades ago….

They wanted a decision, he waffles, then said he was done. GB moves on… But wait!! he wants back in!!! GB sticks to their original commitments (Unlike Chilly I suppose?? ooohhhhh, snap! …just kidding around…. don’t hate me cause I’m trying to be funny…)… which went against popular opinion, depending on who you ask — Maybe GB management should *maybe* get a little more credit for not caveing to media hype/public second-guessing…

Favre saying “bye”… “no, wait.. I want back in!!” Is like eating at the China-barf-et for lunch, leaving, and then coming back for dinner and expecting to get in free, same table, same soda glass and silverware… The waitress and buss boys already cleared the table and made other commitments. Plus that 540 lb woman with the 3 plates of garlic pork looks pretty comfy in your spot… So sorry.

So it either came down to “So sorry” we made other plans, or GB going back on previous commitments and silently thinking to themselves over the course of the next how many years “You been here 4 hour… You leave now!!” (said in best Chinese accent)….

Either way, these debates are really just all in fun – should be a VERY interesting season!! I still think the Chewy / loveboat thing is a great idea….

we struggled for 2 years because of new guards.
See what Pacheaters did with Moss?
13-3 year would have been superbowl with Moss.

Sure hope Raja is not a Harrell.

The 4th round picks we didn’t use on Moss….Are NOT even on our roster anymore.

YES Favre was a drama queen and still is.

Favre does NOT have the tools he use to have. He would try to laser a throw in to small windows….The laser is gone.

He never did learn to look of safeties and linebackers…he just locked in and tried to force it in.

Packers will win division this year with Queens coming 3rd.
