I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure the Queens would’ve benefited greatly by spending a 1st round pick on a QB…he could’ve been an understudy for the year. Look at Rodgers now…came out throwing 4000 yds his first year starting.

Living on the edge of heaven (Mississippi River) ~ Like many of us IDO’ers I also live/work in the transition zone (LaCrosse area) from Purple to Green. Will this make Favre a purple villian to Packer fans? It depends and time will tell. Tuesday Oct 6th & Monday November 2 ~ the morning after.

KFAN just changed their name to “K-Favre!”

    What’d Madden purchase KFAN?

Good point! This is going to put Madden in a tough position. He hates the Vikes but loves #4.

Alright Paul Allen…. let’s get our emotions in check. Man, it’s crazy how one redneck in wranglers can create such a buzz.

Now, where is my pitcher of purple kool-aid??

You purple guys might as well talk superbowl, anything else and chilly will be gone.

This might be the straw that breaks the camels back and moves the team out of the twin cities.

Desperate times call for desperate measures–before you know it, MN will adopt many other great WI ideas/traditions—such as Earn A Buck and T-zones during the peak of the rut.

I didn’t really care too much one way or the other. Enjoyed watching him play, but since he wasn’t on the Bear’s roster…..

But, the VyQueen Farve Jerseys are now on sale. Step right up and order yours!

It was a joke based on the PA bit. I am a pretty level headed fan.

I think he likely makes the team better. I think a hurt Favre is better than a healthy Jackson. Rosenfels probably would have been pretty good as well. I sure as hell hope they are smart enough to keep Sage as the backup.

The team is certainly as talented as many past Super Bowl winners, especially on D. The NFL season is very much predicated on staying injury free (ask the 2008 Pats), so who can really predict anything. I do think the Vikes have the talent to make a Super Bowl run if the offensive coaches can get themselves out of the way and the team stays healthy.

I will be happy if I can finally see a Queens QB actually pick up a blitz and on a hot read hit AP out of the backfield in front of a linebacker and….40…30…20…10…TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!

    I know…I know…wish in one hand and….

    We’ll see.

Sounds like all the Queen fans are jumping all over this. I am listing to KFAN on line and it took a whole 2 minutes to hear conspiracy theory about how Favre is being paid by other teams to break up the queens. Turns out the fans now believe the Queens need a reason to choke down the stretch!

I knew what you were saying. In my opinion, there is no down side to this experiment. We would not make the playoffs with the other two goofballs. If(which he isn’t known for) #4 can manage the game and utilize the talent around him(most he has EVER had), the Vikes are a top 3 NFC contender.

Let’s pray that if it’s a blow out, that Chilli will sit #4 as much as possible to keep him fresh for the end of the season. I could even see starting Sage in a couple games, like Detroit & Cincy.

One thing to keep in mind is that it has been 32 years since the Vikings have been in a Super Bowl. If it takes another 32 years I might not even be alive. I frankly don’t care if we go to a Super Bowl with Santa Claus as quarterback, as long as we get to the big dance. At least the owners are trying to do make moves that could get us to the Super Bowl. I also believe that Brad Childress get’s a bad rap but realize that there are a lot of coaches that make up the team. Go Vikes!

I am anxious to see what some of IDO’s biggest Favre cridicts of past years will have to say now that he is on their side of the ball I guess only time will tell. Enjoy

Just to get this out… I have never “criticized” Favre…he is and always was a great quarterback… God he is not..which I recall plenty of Cheeseheads saying….. What will they say now ??? I am all ears Go back, try to find a post where I said Brett was anything other than a great QB…. I have all season Cheeseheads… what say you about the Chosen one now ??? He has some new disciples….

I don’t recall you, G, calling Favre any unsettling names. I am a Cheesehead and proud of it. But I am having a hard time being a Packer fan while the new administration is at the helm. I am a Bears fan second to the Packers, order reversed the last couple years. But this year I will root for the Vikings in every game they play. To be specific I will be rooting on my favorite NFL player, HANDS DOWN, of all time, Brett Favre.

I see and hear many people saying goofy things like “Oh Raji will eat his lunch” or “The Packers are gonna seriously hurt him” and all kinds of dumb crap like that. Two things. Why on earth would someone wish for serious harm to come to an athlete? They are entertainers for crying our loud. And as for anyone “getting Favre” hey, it’s the name of the game. It can happen, I pray it don’t, but it can. Favre is no Glass Joe. He’s been around the block and had the fiercest of defenses knocking on his door. In my opinion Favre will play behind one of the best O lines, this year, that he has ever seen. That is of course based on last years performance.

When the dust settles I’d be happy to congratulate the Vikings on a Super Bowl victory if Favre is part of the team that did it. But after Brett is gone I’m back to hating them bass turds!

The look on Favre’s face when he held up the Vikes jersey was priceless. His giggling and funny grin almost said “Holy crap, I’m actually holding a Viking jersey with my number on it!

I don’t care what anyone says but Favre was emotional when he started talking. obviously this man is very passionate about football. And when he spoke of getting advice from his young daughter I myself had some wet eyes. People without kids that age may not relate and that’s ok but I understood his perspective 100%.

    Go Purple Favre!

I can understand him wanting to win another superbowl, but the “non revenge” speech is a load. How long did he spend thinking that one up, 3 weeks maybe? He is in my doghouse.

Who wouldn’t want to go out and beat the team that kicked you to the curb after 15 + seasons ? Anybody who wouldn’t want to do that, does not belong in the NFL… wouldn’t you agree ? Do you think he would be better off saying…”well I hope we don’t beat the Pack ?” come on… revenge is best served warm…. humble pie on the other hand…cold

Well, all I can say is “shame on you Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy”. It was not I, nor any other Packer fan that locked Brett out of the locker room nor escorted him off the premises.
If Brett wants to play, let him play-just really pains me and every other Packer fan to see him a purple uniform when he should have finished out his career in GB, as the Ron Wolfe era had promised him.
We Packer fans did not kick Brett to the curb, nor remove him from Green Bay—one day Ted Thompson will be gone and if his master plan falls apart and Brett has a great season–possible civil war in WI.
Being a diehard Favre fan and Packer fan, this will be a hard season. But, with my Dad being a season ticket holder for 51 years-the blood flows Green and Gold.
One day Ted Thompson will be gone and we will retire Brett’s number, til then-look out.

I just hope MN radio does not murder him too bad, they tend to eat their young.

I still don’t agree with “kicked him to the curb” after all he pulled the same flip flop BS that you guys put up with the past few months. And keep in mind we had it for multiple off seasons! As a Packer fan I am happy he is still playing. With that said he picked the worst team I can think of to go to.

OK then… told him No thanks for his services. You would think after that many years, they would have “some” loyalty ??? Yeah, I am sure it is a tough decision, deciding when to retire. Realize, football has been his life for at least the last 20+ years of his being alive. It isn’t a “job” to Brett, it is a passion. I would never admit this before, but you had to love (even in GB), after he would throw a TD, he would run off the field with that 3′ wide grin on his face, helmet in his hand, just lovin’ it. He truely loves the game. I know when I decide to retire, it will be real easy to walk away…. I don’t think it is as easy for a guy like Brett… you would think a professional organization would realize that. Somebody already referenced it, but superstars, do seem to have a hard time, when it comes to retiring… I can see always wondering, did I have 1 more year in me ??? Throw in a total passion for the game and its not easy, I am sure….

He picked the “worst” best team to go to. Look at it from his perspective. He knows the plays, schema, coverages etc… He has more talent around him than he ever did in GB. All the guys that “know” football thought the Vikes were a solid team before he arrived. How can adding someone with his experience level be a bad thing?

This is a no lose situation in my eyes. If he flops, well, I don’t think Sagencopter or Tjack could take us to an 8-8 season. If he plays like old Brett for just one season, the Vikes should make the NFC championship. Anything less than that with this talent should be considered a failure. No way we had a chance with the other two monkeys we got at QB.

I feel bad for the Packer fans who are sensible. However, I can’t wait to see him run on to Lambeau in purple for those haters who have nothing but negative comments toward a guy who 2 short years ago walked on water.

This sure has breathed some life into this organization and division of football. I would go as far to say the Packer/Viking rivalry has taken another step towards being one of the greatest in sports.
