    Hello –

Wife and I looking into used pontoons and wondering what is the best website or best way to determine what a used pontoon/boat is worth. I used NADA for this pontoon but the seller thinks you really shouldn’t go by that because it all depends on options, extras, and condition. I sort of agree but you have to have some guideline. If the pontoon/boat is priced above what NADA is saying would anyone be hesitant to spend more than what NADA says? Thanks again for all the help.

Got a credit union? Bank? I’d start there, see what they have to say, even if you plan on financing or not.

Don’t fall for that schtick. I’d never pay over book for anything. The market’s soft, the end of the season is getting close, bargain accordingly. If he blows you away, go on to the next one. JMHO- -jerr

I havent seen or heard of anyone paying book prices unless its brand new off the showroom floor. Wheel and deal if seller wants book tell him to ask the dealer for book and see how many salesman fall over laughing. If he wont budge on price move on, it is a buyers market now and there will only be better deals as the season ends. Just my opinion

Like everyone said, the guys goal is to try and get the most he can get for it. Earlier this summer BassPro had good deals on new. Who knows you might be better off than you think with a new one. Keep in mind that new ones are pretty much basic as far as having options though.

Banks go by NADA if the seller is asking more than what NADA will price at the bank will only give you what the NADA says. I’ve gone through this. The only way to know exactly how much the vessel is worth is to pay a few bucks and have an appraisal done by an appraiser. NADA does not take alot of things into account and to me is a very in-accurate way to price BOATS out JMO

Talk to a dealer that sells pontoons. That is a good way to get a fair value. We do values for insurance companies and banks quite a bit. I also have people call and ask me the values of their boats.
We use our dealer bluebook – it is more accurate than NADA for this area.
