    i’ve done 52 mph on the gun in a 1546 War Eagle Mod-V jon, with a Merc 40hp 2 stroke, tuned to 66hp. he also had a $1500 cleaver prop on it, and a jackplate. plus a hooked hull, perfect weight displacement, etc. it took him a lot of money to get that speed out of that. it would still run 45-46 with a fishing load in it, and trolling motor.

    it was fun though…. nothing better then pulling up next to a 19ft ski boat, and smoking it!…

    the Fountain runs 77.4 on the gun, it has a 502 mercruiser in it pushing approx 550 hp, and hopefully will have a blower on it by next summer, which should bump it up into the upper 80’s mph and maybe touch 90.

    A friend of mine is putting a motor just under 1000hp in the 21′ Rampage. it is running around 700 hp right now and runs 88 mph on the gun. he is hoping to touch over 100.

    it is fun to go fast, but a lot harder and a lot more expensive then most people think or realize…

    I’m pretty sure you can instantly gain 5 mph by pushing Kooty over the side.

    Okay now don’t get me wrong here, I like going fast…

    HOWEVER… when I see boats like this barreling up and down the Mississippi weaving in and out of other boats I always get a little nervous. You cannot tell me it would take much of a wake hitting the bow of that boat weird and the driver completely losing control…

    Okay sorry to steer off course… What about Kooty and those 18 beers now??

    but you can’t just generalize and say that everyone who runs a boat like that is weaving in and out of traffic. also, nobody in there right mind or responsible enough to run one of these boats is running it WOT in a situation where you’re hitting a large wake that could possibly make you lose control.

    i can honestly say that the people i boat with that have these big fast boats, are very responsible and courteous towards others, and in no time have i ever felt like my life was at risk.

    now, there are a lot of idiots out there that don’t belong in control of anything larger then a 25hp jon boat…

    I agree 100%, and my comment was by no means meant to be a shot at either you or your buddies.

    Unfortunately not all those drivers are like that
