OK so it looks as if my current garage door opener is toast.
Need to buy a new one, but what should a person get?
Belt Drive, Chain drive or Screw Drive?
Currently I have a screw drive and it does give me a bit of trouble on the cold winter at which time is can stick as it opens the door.
    Any suggestions?
I just have a simple 7’door nothing special.
    Thanks

I’ve installed three of the belt drive units over the past couple of years all in new construction garages. They’ve worked well. The Whisper drive I think was the ones we installed, easy do it yourself job (or with a third hand).

last fall i helped my old man throw in a new belt drive. its nice and quiet compared to his old chain system. if its attached to the house i’d definitely recommend a belt drive.

my entire fam has had good luck with craftsman, as far as brand options go..

Chamberlain whisper quiet for me. Easy to install and very quiet. I keep the rollers and door rails siliconed and it really quiets the doors. Helps when we have bedrooms just above the garage.

Genie screw drive. Mine’s been working flawlessly for 11 years now.
