Need a new upright vacuum. Oreck is out because of bags. Anyone recommend any current bagless ones out there? Replacing a Eureka Whirlwind which has been a damn good unit. Must be bagless. Waste of money otherwise with dog hair.

we have had the dyson animal for about 4 years now and works great, just need to remeber to clean out the filters once in a while.
August 11, 2009 at 11:23 pm #796791Even though you mentioned bagless………I have three words for you.
Electrolux, Electrolux, Electrolux.
I have tried all kinds of vacuums……..and never been happy with them. We raise poultry, so we are forever dragging oats hulls in the house and garage. NOTHING takes them out of the rugs or picks them up off the bare floor without spewing them all over the place so I have to go chase them all over. My son gave me the same three word speech when I voiced my frustrations…….I bought one earlier this year at the Electrolux store in Eau Claire, it was a used one, but gone through and warrantied……….loved it so much, I bought a second one on Ebay. Will never own anything else.
August 11, 2009 at 11:39 pm #796797Bought my wife a Dyson DC25. So far she has not used it once, but come to think of it she didn’t use the last one either. I love it, never knew I had soo much pet hair around. Just empty the cannister out side not in the house, too much dust when you empty it.
August 12, 2009 at 12:11 am #796805Dyson, bought it at Sam’s club, they had the competitors beat by 50 bucks! My dad has the animal model as they have 3 cats and two labs in the house, yikes, but I have seen it pick up all that hair!! Won’t go back to anything else.
August 12, 2009 at 12:45 am #796812We got a Kenmore from Sears about a year ago and it has been great. It was rated #1 in consumer reports for getting pet hair, etc. I’m not sure of the model but I’m sure sears could tell you. Or you could google it.
August 12, 2009 at 12:52 am #796814Wife loves her Dyson. Can’t believe the power. When we take it to the lake for the camper, everyone wants to use it. Three other have also bought one after using ours.
August 12, 2009 at 2:51 am #796847Dyson all the way here.
We’ve got about 5 years (yellow model) of hard use out of ours with 3 dogs in/around the house, and other messes from living in the country. I owned a few vacuums prior to the Dyson, and they all burned up within a year. Literally had a Eureka bagless start on fire while in use… Hoovers, Eureka and one other one I can’t recall the name.
August 12, 2009 at 3:51 am #796856Dyson ball, friggin’ love it, works awesome been flawless for 3+ years. Bed, bath and beyond sends out 20% coupons we bought ours with that coupon beat the best price we could find at the time by a good $100. Check around see what you find, if you want or need a coupon let me know I’ll drop it in the mail for you.
timmyPosts: 1960August 12, 2009 at 11:36 am #796875I’ll join in on this gay thread………I bought a Dyson a few years ago, but the wife can’t get the hang of using it. I, though, have mastered it. It sucks hair (2 dogs) out of the carpet like mad. I would buy another in a heartbeat. Bought it on the internet for 300 bucks……
It’s nice not having to change bags.
Carry on, Ladies…..

I’ll add another recommendation for Dyson. We’ve had the yellow one for about 5 years. It works great.

Another vote for Dyson, if you have pets get the DC28. that thing will suck dog hair off of everything….

Bite Me!!
Yes, we are purple Dyson owners. We no longer use it in the house due a built in system(highly recommend!!). It makes a good vacuum for the garage rugs now. Spendy, but works very well.
I’ll call Hoover and have them send over a team for a demo for you.
