I’ve seen this a few times. I always assumed they were charting and/or confirming depth.

Wonder how that would work for location sturgeon?

It’s used mostly around lock and dams to monitor the scour holes isn’t it? That’s a Corp boat?

They call them Sounders. They are usually sent out before the Corp. comes to do Dredging this boat marks the area of the river to be dredged And sets out the markers as well. When there is a lot of pleasure boat traffic i’ve seen them set all day & work all night!!

yep thats true, after the readings are taken they then give the new info to other corps employees to fish the new found honey holes and they in turn will contact the locks and dams to inform them that the water level will drastically be dropping

And don’t forget that Corps employee’s will share the info – for cookies and cold beverages!

Would like to rent damman’s boat to keep waterskiers and personal watercraft , at a distance so i can fish. Some guys may used it to guard tourney spots.
