I see the Gov’t decided to take another $50.00 out of my pay check for last month. I hate our gov’t and it’s taxing knowing they are fiscal idiots and blow my money.

Oh, hang on. It’s just begun. We are going to have to pay off these idiots spending spree sometime. Look for taxes to go through the roof during this administration. Now is a great time to start saving some cash in the coffee can.
July 30, 2009 at 2:36 pm #794224Other than making more money, there should be no reason for your withholding to go up. In fact, the current administration has cut witholding for many Americans. Which at the end of this year means less or no refunds.

do something about it. Get elected and make a difference I know this will go to the trash can pretty quick. But, as long as politicians with socilist views are elected, we all will pay for these programs. Its unfortunate that those in large numbers that are in need, are a large enough group to have the voting power and are not the ones paying for all these programs. I know your pain, I’m taxed and fee’d to the point I may need to give up some of the things I have worked my short middle aged life for….
July 30, 2009 at 2:40 pm #794228Maybe I should stop being successful and go be a dead beat POS like some of my acquaintances. Heard that a friend of mine just got her food stamps upped to $892 month.
Wanna bet she DOESN’T value shop!

That’s what I thought. However I was told from our accounting dept. that every time they do pay checks. They have to run the numbers with the IRS as there are weekly updates to how much they take.

Not for those of us in the upper-middle class tax bracket.
July 30, 2009 at 2:42 pm #794231Just one more comment on this. Many of you would benefit from adding exta money to your withholdings. That way at the end of the year you don’t owe a big chunk of cash to the Feds or Mn.
The basic premise of the witholding cut was to put your end of year refund in your pocket now. If, like many Americans who over pay taxes with the expectation of a refund will be quite surprised.
One thing is or sure. If you earned even one taxable dollar this year, your tax on that dollar will go up 1%. That is 100% due to the expiration of the George Bush tax cuts.

July 30, 2009 at 2:44 pm #794233An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before but had once failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D! No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler than that.

I suspect you worked a couple hours overtime. What happens on those calcs is they assume you will earn that weekly wage for the rest of this year and assume the tax on that total amount. You got bumbed to a higher bracket…..temporarily.

That is correct. I highly suggest that everyone scrutinize their tax withholdings and adjust accordingly. I do my year end tax appraisal at the beginning of the year and adjust accordingly. That way, come tax time. I owe/receive about $100. Why give the Gov’t an interest free loan all year long!

I do the same. But it’s hard to figure this year. As there is no way nail the calc. It’s all a big guess at this point!

July 30, 2009 at 3:15 pm #794245Taxes and Death are the only things truely guaranteed once you enter this world.
I pay enough taxes each year to support another family and it makes me sick. I vote, I write letters to government and speak my 2 cents to who will listen.
We just have too many people out there who do not want to work and feel everything is owed to them. Not enough of us hard working people take the time / nor some even have the time to get involved. But if we don’t start standing up for ourselves, we will be walked over.

I’m in the same boat. My finace hangs out at a bar where a lot of lower income people hang out. Every time she overhears someone whining about taxes or inadequate gov’t programs. She let’s them have it and informs them that I pay more in taxes than they make in a year. That usually shuts them up. Personally, I think she enjoys that. I know I do.July 30, 2009 at 4:30 pm #794292I am probably going to get kicked in the nads for saying this…but with the growing amount of lower income people hitting the tax roles (Who won’t/don’t pay taxes.) we will see a proliferation of the “I don’t need to work because I can get benefits” mentality. Or the “Entitlement” mentality. ACORN rallies these folks in to vote…and who are they voting for? The candidate that offers and supports the most social programs!
I promise…I wont post a follow on to this so it does not get nuked for being political.Stop taking my money…and start taking up MY work ethic! I know there are a ton of folks out there out of work not by their own choosing and this is in NO WAY a shot at them. Because “There but for the Grace of God go I…” I could be unemployed tomorrow. I am very disturbed by the spending spree taking place in Washington right now going unchecked. I think an uneven balance of power by either party with no check and balances is very dangerous. It has been stated by many here before me and we are seeing it play out before our eyes.
One thing that I wonder about the tax rates and what is what…I gotta believe the incumbant majority parties in the House and Senate have folks that will be up for election/re-election soon? If the “Truth” gets out, how will they fair?
It’s an honest question and would be a fair question to either party.
July 30, 2009 at 6:43 pm #794366THANK YOU!!!
My wife already takes enough of my HARDEARNED $ I don’t need the government and lowlifes to take more of it. Sure makes me wonder why I work my off completing 4 years of college, working a full-time job, run a small but profitable small business, and now attempting to complete graduate school, all the while being the great family man.
Government…
Someone get me a beer… My blood pressure is on the rise again. Better call my doctor before the government runs that too.

July 30, 2009 at 7:27 pm #794379I have stopped at the off ramps and offered jobs to the guys with the signs. You want to see a guy get pee-d off, offer them work
July 30, 2009 at 7:35 pm #794387Want to know the SAD state of our situation????
How far gone it has slid??????In Wisconsin you can buy Papa Murphy’s Pizza with your EBT card.
What is the EBT card you ask??????????It is the food stamp card.
Wonder how many of our law makers know you can buy a Papa Murphy’s pizza with a food stamp card. They vote on stuff they haven’t even read nor care about in regard to the long term implications of their decisions. We need term limits. These career politicians are so in bed with the lobbists soon they will need birth control. These relationships between politicans and lobbists are cultivated over 10’s of years and neatly groomed to the point of being completely self serving and subjective—-losing all objectivity.
Don’t ask for too much–you just might get it. And that dog goes by the name Socialism.
From what I remember during history class, this country was built by hardworkers, not freeloaders.
Why work when the government gives it away for free–even if you are an illegal alien. Now, where did I put my EBT card, I am getting hungry.

July 30, 2009 at 7:46 pm #794390I know 1 thing for sure, I was paying too much tax, long before this year… What I have noticed is, we are in a recession, which according to prior reports, we are not, nor are we headed for one…. which I find laughable. I have also noticed, alot more bickering (due to the economy I would guess) about taxes and gov’t handouts…. I don’t think they are new…. just magnified by the problems this country/world are in with the economy. This too shall pass, I would guess in about 3 1/2 years… then who knows, it may start up for another 4 years !!!
BTW, how many of you, remember the campaign promises, for oh lets say the last 12 years….. “I am gonna reform health care” !!! Lets face it, if you really look at your paystub, from 10 years ago, to today and do the math, costs are WAY out of control. I remember them and never seen anything done about it….. now a president, (who also promised to do that, along with every other politician who wanted to get elected last fall) is trying to get something done and everybody is screaming bloody murder !!! I guess he is proving one thing, he is not running a popularity contest !!! He drinks BUD

July 31, 2009 at 12:17 am #794461Its incredible what this administration is doing, and it is mind blowing how many people think they’re doing the right thing. On top of that you have the media not doing their job. The only way to get good info is to listen to Rush Limbaugh or Jason Lewis. If you make 100k a year and the government taxes you 100% how much do they get….. Nothing, i know i wouldn’t work for free. They better be careful how much they raise taxes, you force rich people to leave and then the government has no money
July 31, 2009 at 1:16 am #794465and…………….. it takes the proverbial political corner…………….. now it will get dusted RKD It was about taxes, taxes shouldn’t be new this admin, I have had them forever. The correct rich people are people making more than $250K a year….. not the poor ones at $100K….
