actually, that’s awesome news. They need to build something. Like a QB that can throw slants and a burly O-line

Great. Another year of Childress inept play calling to beat the S out of the league’s best back. A/P should find a reason to sit this season out.

I have this fear in the back of my mind that the Vikes will start talking to Vick now. This team has no shame

As a vikes fan, the saddest part of this whole thing is we were hoping for a washed up 40 year old interception throwing machine because he is better then anything else we have right now

Vikes should pick up Vick, he is WAAAAAY Better than anything they have right now. Plus with his ability to run as well as throw it would take a lot of weight off of AP who already carries the team.

Why wouldn’t any team in need of a QB talk to Vick?? BTW, WE NEED A QB(and throw in a coach)!! Vick has paid his debt to society in my eyes. Although, I’ve never been on the persecute bandwagon like many. Per the court that rules our country, he did his penance and now is free to work anywhere that allows felons(NFL). I’m not saying you are, but I think a lot of people are ticked that he has a chance to make millions of dollars where most ex-convicts are lucky to get a job.

The really sad part of this is the Vikings organization has put themselves into this position by hanging on to a QB who can’t think on his feet and signing a perennial backup QB. At least they made an attempt to better our QB situation with Favre. Now they need to look for the next best QB on the market. I.E. VICK.

Imagine this… Vick, Peterson, Harvin, Berrian, Wade, Shiancoe all on the field. I’d love to call the plays for that set of talent.

Don’t worry, Wilf doesn’t have the brassies to even think about going after Vick. He’ll end up in LA or Washington most likely. They both have needs and crazy owners.

Yes, It’s not over. Favre has said many many times that he doesn’t want to go through another training camp. Steve Young reported last night that Favre told him he will continue to throw. As of right now, he doesn’t think he can compete at his highest level BASED on how he feels. THAT is an open door comment to me.. Here is what ProFootballTalk is saying on the subject. PS-I too would take Vick in a heartbeat!

Will Vikings hear from Favre in two weeks?

He left before he ever arrived, but it doesn’t mean he’s never coming.

Amid mounting evidence that Brett Favre is interested in playing football if he can find a way to shorten the season as it applies to him, there are some in the Vikings organization who are convinced that Favre will attempt to join the team after the first two weeks of training camp.

And that coach Brad Childress will welcome him with open arms.

This conflicts with the notion, as Tom Curran reported yesterday, that the Vikings have closed the door on Favre. But the reaction of the team in the immediate wake of Favre’s announcement and its atttiude after 14 days of bounce passes and pickoffs could be very different.

So, basically, he isn’t going away quietly, and he simply isn’t going away.

As a very long time Packers’ fan, I want to thank Favre for calling it a career. May we always remember the good times and laugh about the bad. Thank you for the years of loyality and service for the Packers!

Farve is just saying that he is retired now because he thinks Vick will take all his media attention…as soon as a team picks up Vick and the media settles down, Farve will come out of retirement again!

The problem with Vick is not that he is a dog killer and illegal gambling ring owner, but that he just isn’t that good. He has always been overrated. His career stats are that of an average QB. Sure, he can run, but he has zero accuracy. His potential is always brought up, but at some point shouldn’t that become skills? Sure, he can run the ball but don’t expect him to throw it…the Queens already have a slower version of Vick in TJack

My guess is all the Vikings need to do is bring the love boat rides back. That might get him to commit to the vikings… Heck, it might even bring Chumura out of retirement!

Those chicks were way too old for Chamura, they had drivers licenses. Where is the sign up for these rides?

True.. Much more appealing for Chumura with high school cheerleaders, I’d guess.

favre was quoted by Peter King in an interview today that he is not ruling anything out, and we’ll see what happens if the vikings or another team decide to call him come November 1st.

I really wanted to see him come here, you cannot deny the guy’s ability, but with how we’ve been toyed with on this, i hope he gets hit by a truck this afternoon…

Oh crap, now I have something in common with viking fan. A hatred of drama queens. Oh but thats right, we got rid of ours, and you wanted sloppy seconds and the rest of your team are still drama queens.

Take it from a long time Falcons fan. Vick is a amazing athelete but he is a ship wreck waiting to happen. You take a HUGE chance with him! But the Vikes will get him cheap!

The best article on Favre I’ve ever read –

    http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9867096/Dear-Brett:-Thanks-for-finally-quitting

As for Vick, I’ve never thought he was a very good QB, unless he was playing for your fantasy team. Who knows what shape he’s in now or how he’ll come out of it, but there’s no denying that the guy is an amazing athlete. IF someone could harness that athleticism, along with some new found maturity, he could be the best bargain in NFL history for whoever takes a chance on him.

The Vikes could do a lot worse, like what’s on their roster now…
