While fishing with Haywood04 last week Jeff mentioned he had been in Las Vegas, about two fish later I ask why? I his humble way he admitted he had been honored as the as the Strength Training Coach of the Year.
The honor came from the National Strength and Condition Association (NSCA), a 40,000 member, national group of professional academic strength coaches and trainers. To receive the honor Jeff needed to be nominated and selected by a committee of his peers. Jeff plies his trade at Winona State University.
Congrtats Jeff, that’s an awesome honor so don’t be modest.

Congrats! I have alot of respect for my high school and college strength coaches and what all of you do. I only wish I would have listened to them more at the time.

The light bulb finally turned on though.

    Hey Guys,
    Thanks for the kind words.
This has been a great honor and a very big surprise.
Recognition like this is humbling and you get the opportunity to reflect on how lucky you have been to be work with great people, many who have become mentors and for me a great university like Winona State.
This is far more about a great team than one individual, my hope is that I have been and continue to be a great teammate.

PS. Interestingly the influence on a person’s professional life is not limited to your work day. John “Riverfan” Stears has had a big influence and is a walking example on the right way to treat people, courteous, professional and as a true friend! Thanks John, it is truly appreciated!

Almost forgot, If you are struggling with the weight, you can try two things, first you might want to up the weight to get an overload workout to say 16 oz. or if feeling really brave 32oz
second if staying with 12 oz. you may need to up your reps!
Good luck and anything else I can help with do not hesitate to ask!

It is an extremely fun job, You get to be 18-22 the rest of your life!
You do have to be a morning person, I am at the office at 5:45am most days during the school year, and we also have some weekends when we work our athletes out, but you know that going into the gig.
From the Strength and Conditioning side I work with 12 teams at WSU ranging from the Football to Women’s tennis and everything between. We will handle all aspects of their Strength programming, on and off season.
I am also directing the Fitness/ Wellness for all of WSU.
After 9 years i still go to work with a smile…most days That is the best art of all.
    Thanks again
