Long roding through the ice on cecils is my favorite. Check out this VIDEO. Pretty much sums it up.

Mid summer crappie ~ at least on pool 9 ~
You cann’t go wrong with a BfishN pink flu-flu (white head). Best jig a $1 can buy! Some days tipped with a minnow below a float or jigging. Other days pendulum casting bareback. As for locations ~ reduced flow areas laced with wooded structure in up to 12′ of water are good places to target.

BTW and FWIW we can do these things in Missouri and Kansas, cause we’re loaded with hillbillies!

Don’t think for a second we wouldn’t be doing it too if we couldn’t, I just felt I had to mention it in case someone lurking from MN thought about trying this without realizing the legality.

I’ve always wanted to spider rig too, but since the lovely state of MN only allows anglers to fish one line, It’s hardly pratical to get another 7+ people in my boat and still be able to have enough room to reel in a fish

Nick, wonder if we could rent the Treasure Island cruiser and “spider rig” for flatheads?

Now that sounds like a good time!

I like to sit in my ice shack on the frozen St.Croix River with a full tank of propane, Heater stoked, -10 to +15 degrees out, full bucket of fat head and crappie minnows, some beer and or soda’s, some munchies, vexilar lit up 6+ ft off the bottom, comfy chair, 2-3 rods in the holes, small demon jig, plain hook, and sometimes a friend along that gets pizza’s delivered to the closest landing.

or usually they bite my crank baits when trolling for walleye in the summer when I am not spending my time fishing for crappies

I am glad you didn’t post those pictures last week when we were roasting at near 100F. Sure does look nice. We have had record lows this week, it has been like having a second spring. Thanks for posting them Jessy.
