Would you trade Gomez, Liriano, Swarzak & Buecher to Toronto for Roy Halliday?

All four are low salary guy’s.
All four can be replaced by players currently on the team.
Gomez and Liriano, Swarzak have upside.
Buecher is a good utility player who comes to play daily.

Halliday is a free agent AFTER next season. Next year he will be paid 15.7 million.

Next year we move into the new play pen.

IMHO the staff needs a proven leader for the stretch drive THIS year.

What do you think? Is it do-able? Is it to much to give up? Would Toronto do it?

I think it would be better to keep Swarzak and get rid of Young.

The Twins would be giving up way to much for Toronto’s ace. Getting him would be nice but not at the expense of the club and everyday players vs rotational players. IMO

gomez and buescher are barely everyday players, lariano should be in the bullpen at best. swarzak has upside, true,,but is no ace.

I would do it if you could sign Halliday to an extension before you make the trade.

We are entering a whole new realm of Twins baseball. One in which we have multiple high priced players. If we had Halliday, Morneau, and Mauer we’d be pushing $100 mill in two years.

By the way, when I saw the topic, how did I know Hoffies was behind this?

PS, thanks again to Hennepin County for paying for our new wonderful playpen next year!!

Choke…I don’t ‘spose we could just trade the team and the new stadium for a new boat for every member of Ido?

You know, what Teddie Roosevelt said? “A boat in every garage”.

That might be a slight mis quote.

How did I know I’d get a reaction out of you on the stadium tax!

What’s the name of the other big counties over there, we need a Vikings stadium now. Got the Gophers, Twins, Wild, Wolves, just need 1 more………..

Sorry Brian, I got that beat. Being a Cub fan (I know, I’m sorry too) we are going to give them Soriano and Zambrano who have laid down so bad they should do a mattress commercial, Milton Bradley, our closer Gregg, and Mike Fontenot. The catch is they can keep Halliday

Gomez has gotta go!! But he isn’t worth squat. Besides he wouldn’t play ball in the snow!!

I’m probably on board with this trade. However, is Toronto ever going to trade with us again after the Kielty/Stewart debacle??
