Okay, I have a place on a 60 acre lake that allows electric motors ONLY. My buddy and I went in on a nothing special boat. He already had a nice trolling motor and 2 batteries. He asked me to purchase a “nice” charging system for it.

There is LIMITED electrical supply at the docks we will have the boat (2 outlets, first come/first serve with about 6 other boats)

I see Cabela’s will have all charger’s 20% off starting on Thursday (in store only) with my points I have saved up, I’m hoping to get by with little or no money out of pocket.

The trolling motor requires 24 Volts….that is about all I know. So, what could you suggest I could buy at Cabela’s that I could plug into on the boat and charge 2 batteries at the same time????

Sorry, all new to battery chargers for trolling motors/boats!!! THANKS!!!!!!!

A two bank charger, 10 amps per bank, will allow you to charge both batteries at the same time while tying up one outlet.

Jay if you plan on only running 2 trolling batteries than the one James said will work great. But do you have any electronics or motor to fire that requires a 3rd battery. Then look into a 3 bank charger. Hopefully this helps, Dan

Thanks guys!! Nope, no motor to fire. The boat won’t have one, and not allowed to run on the lake!

There are some electronics however……a radio, and a fish finder. Maybe we should buy a 3rd battery and the 3 way charger??? Don’t know.

If you have two batteries in the boat get a two bank charger. If you have three batteries in the boat get a three bank charger.

The radio and depth finder will use little power Jay, 2 12vs with a 2 bank charger will do you fine

How far is your cabin from the docks? Can you run a long extension cord for another supply if needed?

Hope to make it over some time

I would also include a power strip so you can add more cords to one outlet.

How about a spare set of 12 volts charging at the cabin

while you are out fishing. No worries on having a spot

to plug into when the day is done and after the overloaded

circuit trips down at the lake, all they can do is as you pull

away from the docks under full power.

after our club tournement a couple of weeks ago and all of the chargers on circuits we had the discussions of cost to charge aboat and I took an amp draw on my 3bank DualPro 10-10-10 it was pulling 3amps so you can put quite a few chargers on a circuit 4x3a=12a on a typical 15 amp circuit
