A friend of mine ask me to post this. She has a 11 month old female Weimaraner that is tan phase. She is an energetic dog and needs a home with someone who will provide her with the proper attention. Her current home is not compatible to a Weimaraner. She’s a big dog and needs room to move around. She is great with kids and loves to play. She is not gun shy as the family enjoys fireworks and the dog is interested in the noises. My father has a male Weimaraner and he is an outstanding hunter of upland birds. I considered taking her, but the fiance and I travel to much for a dog.

Feel free to contact me here and I’ll provide you with her contact number.

What great looking dog. I’ll see if the old man is interested. He lives on a farm in central SD. Does the dog listen well? He raises 12,000 pheasants a year and his dogs are not allowed near the pens.

As far as I know she is house trained and spayed. Overall she’s a good dog. She listens about as good as any Weimaraner I’ve seen. That means you have to tell them once, remind them again after a few minutes, and remind them again after a few minutes, etc, etc, etc. They are an intelligent and persistent breed. Great upland bird dogs, but they require attention. They remind me of a kid with ADD. They just hate to sit down and chill. They seem to be on or off. No in between.

Kid with ADD is a perfect analogy! My mom breeds weims in the Cities, I asked her about this. Although she did rescue for years for the club, she no longer does so (and has a bunch of gray rats running around right now!). She did suggest looking at the club website, then checking in on the rescue link. Good luck! I co-owned one with mom at one point, but a hunting dog on the weekend does not look the best Monday at the show, ended up buying a Germain Wire and have since been a true believer in that breed!
