I just got a new to me Tuffy osprey a few months ago and it has a pinpoint trolling motor with a pinpoint locator attached up in the front. I know nothing about this thing! It has more buttons and features than i want! Anyone have one of these units or should I trade er off for a Minn-kota?

If it works like it should it can be one of the best trolling motors you will ever use. If it does not work right, it’s the biggest piece of *&%* you will see.
If you need help running it shoot me a PM.

I didn’t like the foot control aspect of them but the shore track and bottom track were a great feature. As Slider stated- if they were working right. They had a calibration feature where you would line it up with a target on shore and then adjust left to right until it was tracking straight. The locators were top notch, Close to real time.
James had the Pinpoint locators and from what I remember takling to him, he also liked them.
If it is working right, I would keep it.

Like Slider said… when they work they’re a good motor. As for the electronics… those pinpoints were some of the best graphs made in their time. Particularly in shallow water where so many of the current offerings seem to struggle. Again, if it is working there’s no reason to throw it out for something different based on the name on the front.

I ran Pin Point for several years, as everyone has said they have some great features if working, I loved the locater. The only thing I didn’t like was the speed of the steering, if I pushed the foot pedal for what would be a 45 degree turn with my Minkota I would make a 180 degree turn, never did get accustomed to the steering—I’m back to a Pro Max 80 now. Give it a fair chance.
