I was quoted by a local marine shop for a “New never ran …just out of the crate” 2004 Evinrude 150HO motor at $9800. With trading in my junk 99 ficht 150 he would take $1000.00 off and install it for free. Total then would be $8800.00 installed. Is this a good deal or not? Any advice helpfull.

One thing to consider is a 2004 new crated eligleble for a new motor warrenty. If not you should be able to pick up a nice used for around $5,000. Trade in for $1000.00 is ok for a dealer as he will part out the lower unit, case ect.. for more money. Prop included? If not keep yours. Do some online research for model and make and make sure no apparent problems. If you are going to keep the boat for more than two years get the best motor you can afford, if not remember a low hours 2004 is still a 2004 and may not help your resale as much as you think. Just some thoughts to consider. Good luck.

If the motor is new, you will receive the new warranty.

Thanks for the reply’s, the motor has a 3 year warranty with it and I can keep my prop. I thought about parting out my motor but then trying to sell a ficht is like trying to sell a bridge in the desert! If I could find a nice used motor for $5000.00 i would jump on it! I have looked everywhere but can’t find a 150 Evinrude anywhere in the 2002-2007 model used. Thanks again.

I have seen brand new E-Tecs on E-Bay for that money. My brother bought his 150 Verado ( demo motor ) rigged for not much more then that price of $9,800
