Regardless if you are a foreign or domestic person…I feel I gotta brag about my ’06 Mercury Milan. A week ago I had a two day trip where I went from Hastings to Cedar Rapids, back to Hastings. Next day to Fergus Falls and back. Over the two trips I averaged 30 MPG. Much of it at or around 70 MPH. This is out of a V-6!

Today, a 454 mile round trip to Cedar Rapids got me 31 MPG, a stat verified by filling it and using the calculator as well!

This is the same platform as the Ford Fusion. I can’t say enough about this car. Oh, and when you put your foot down? You best be hanging on tight!

    Anyways..my $.02

thanks for buying a real american car. one where the profits stay in this country.
my wife drives a ’06 mustang with the v-6 and gets 30-32 mpg also. and a fun drive as well.
Too bad the us car companies don’t make quality cars that get good mileage.
    Happy motoring!!

If Obama gets his way you could buy a truck three years from now with the same milage, albeit you get to pay another $3-5000k for such a vehicle. Cheaper to lay off the pedal a little if you ask me.

My Pontiac G6 GT w/ a V6 mph gets nearly 30 as well, even with the top down!

I dont believe Obama’s “plan” will work. I do find it amusing that the most aggresive of his proposals do not take effect until after the 2012 election…..coincidence? Yeah, probably……

We purchased an ’08 Ford Fusion (RED) V6 two months ago and LOVE IT!!! Lots of power and we are getting about the same gas mileage on trips. Plus we really like the Sync technology and in dash 5 CD changer
I had a Ford Escort Wagon for fourteen years and it is still running AND getting 35 MPG at 238,000 miles just driving to work and back.

Same with the Avenger and Sebring…. 31 mpg. But there are no domestics that get that kind of mileage…..

1st off, I’m a blue oval guy. 3 diesels & the ’99 7.3 PS has 277K miles and is getting ratty but strong as an ox. I’m scared of the latest versions of the PS and will likely go Duramax on my next pickup.
The Fusion / Milan V6 is the 24 valve SOC 3.0 motor that we have in our ’00 Taurus. It is a proven dependable engine that has great power. The ’00 is our 3rd Taurus and has 188k miles and gets 26 MPG in mixed city / rural driving.
We looked at Milans & Fusions and were going to go Milan until we drove a ’08 Taurus. It is a bigger car which we were happy with and still gets 26 MPG and goes from 55 to 90 TOO FAST when passing.
FYI the Fusion / Milan is assembled in Matomoros and the Taurus in Chicago. As a proud 30 yr member of the UBC & J of A and since the car was a “retirement gift” to us I felt better about the Taurus.

Wife just bought a almost new malibu LTZ with the 3.6 and I just got back from Rainy and averaged 28 mph . I was not babying it , and it is a car built right in the midwest!

The most impressive part is you guys are getting better than what the EPA says the cars will get. My Dodge Ram gets about 15MPG and then drops to 11MPG pulling the boat at 75MPH…
