i am going Saturday and Sunday fishing and i am caught up with the where should i go thought. I’m looking for the eyes but will go for some bass and northerns as well. I have a 15 foot glastron 1972 that was just repaired and i am 16 and i really would like to go to the river but my inexperience would cause major problems. So what lake do you guys/gals recommend? I would keep it with in an hour from eagan.

    Thanks a lot

well bud. nothing wrong with the river in redwing. put in at covil park in RW or Everets on the Skoni side. As long as you keep in the center or between the red-greens while at speed u will be fine. The river is really nothing to be scared of, it opens up a whole new world. also the eye season never cloces and ppl fish in boats all year long as a good part never freezes. I havent had what you would call an “opener” for a few years now cuz i never stop catching eyes. Also doun on Pepin out of lake city or frontanac would be fine. pull some cranks on the long line there. Got a graph/gps with a chip in that puppy?
Id be more than happy to take ya down there some time, you could bring ur boat and a friend and follow if ya wanted.

If you want walleye’s and pike
I would head up to lake Owasso, in the Roseville area.
