That didn’t look good! Good vid though.

What I don’t get, your already chinewalking pretty good in the choppy water, not even that choppy. He was also chinewalking as he approached the wake…what was he thinking…he wasn’t. TRIM DOWN DUMBA$$!

Was he showing how fast the boat is, how terribly bad a Dominator chinewalks or how poor of a driver he is?

Good vid though! It should be titled…how NOT to operate a boat.

As I’m aging I always wear the life vest and always connect the kill switch. You just can’t be too safe. It only takes one mistake, and it might not be your mistake. There are other boats always on the water and I’d say every time I’m out fishing there’s at least one guy who’s being stupid.

Good video, shows you how fast things can happen. I once didn’t see a wake that a pontoon was making. The sun was just right with the waves and I didn’t know it was there. I crossed well behind it and my boat left the water. I went up half out of the seat. Scared the crap out of me. I landed facing the same direction and level back on the water. I was lucky, this guy wasn’t.

Looked like he wanted to wreck was driving like a lot of guys do on the river. Big motor got to go fast and dont care about making waves. HOPE HE WAS ALRIGHT AND NEVER DRIVES A BOAT AGAIN

    Yep
Really pays to go fast…I know a guy that just totaled his boat on the river. Yep 53MPH he said and hit a dead head.
I stick with my 27MPH safe speed.

I hit logs and trees just under the water line frequently. Hitting a log with your boat at idling speed…not no wake speed, but idling speed can send a passenger to the floor.

Some want to stand up for a better view, but I make them sit down.

My boat doesn’t move until the auto inflate Float Tecs are snapped up.

With today comfortable PFD’s on the market…there isn’t a reason that they can’t be worn all the while when on the water.

Ask your loved one to buy one for you on your next birthday ect. Hey! Might save your butt!

On another note…”10 minutes in the water” I don’t think the guys in the camera boat liked him too much to leave him in the water for 10 minutes.

Pretty spooky stuff right there!! I’m with Brian on the 10 minutes soaking though!! Unless the Camera boys hooked a fish in the meantime I’m pretty certain he wasn’t in the water for that long!! YIKES!! Hope that video wasn’t showing handling ability!! Looks like what I see every year in our bass tournament up here. a couple years ago we were just about run over in the Brule neckdown area. BTW Must use Brain when operating these big powerboats!!

He should have been on the gas – HARD and taken the wake at a better angle. I think he could have the boat much higher – out of the water. I like to see the prop spinning, in slow motion, when guys in bass boats go by me in my houseboat. He should have had that boat at least 5 feet out of the water with proper boat handling.

You can’t be fearful when you hit the wake. Give her the wiskey and hold on tight!!!!Might want to wear a mouthgard and brace for impact. Strap the rods and batten down the hatches.

Good for your fiberglass boat. Leave a few stress cracks and maybe some cracked stingers in the hull.

I’m guessing that he was just trying to be curtious to all the other boaters/fishermen out there. You know…. they don’t throw hardly any wake at all when they are “on plane”

We (Bass Fishermen) don’t need idiots like this polluting the minds of people and sending the message that every bass boat drives like this or trys to pull off stupid stunts.

I have NEVER been in any situation remotely close to this. I feel a lot safer in a bass boat going 70 mph then I do in my car in the morning trying to merge around idiots on I94.

Bomber..if I could I would change the name to Catfisherman…if it would make you feel better.

Personally, I didn’t see a Bass, Walleye or any kind of fisherman… Just a person going too fast for the conditions.

    Take a deep breath…it’s ok.

I think the style of boat kind of implies bass guy and I think after 5 years on this site we all know the stigmas and I would think you would know what I was getting at. You know the whole, one rotten egg makes everyone look bad syndrome that goes on.

By most people’s standards I could assume that all Turkey hunter’s are drunk, high and shoot their own kids, ya dig?

i was not singling any type of person or boater out when i posted this up. it was simply to show that any boat that goes fast needs to be handled responsibly and with care, as it can become very dangerous, very quickly.

you’re reading way too much into this…

i’ll try to find a video of a guy in a deep V walleye boat crashing just make things even then…

I don’t know what that means but I am biting my tongue here and dam proud of it. However I would feel safer in my truck than in a boat going 70 mph on any water for obvious reasons. Bass boats are made to go fast for a reason. When you leave your boat at 70 mph you and your boat become a very deadly projectile which as a fellow fisherman and boater have to be aware of and guard against. You have taken the responsibility of yourself when you choose to push that lever and that is a good thing. However you have not taken the responsibilty of endangering other boaters. In my ho I do not see the need to travel 70 mph to go fishing but I stand next to you for your right to choose to fish your way. Let me sight an example of one of the many bad apples fishing his way. Picture the take off at a tourney on a small back channel just at the crack of a very foggy morning. The boat headed toward me is probably only traveling about 35 mph on water he can not reasonably travel at half that speed. I was seated in my anchored boat hiding behind a very large red bouy in fear of way is about to happen. I had my boat lights on and a hand held deer shining light with a million watt light in my hand. If I would not have had that light he would have T boned me along with the red bouy. He needed to be at his spot first for the purpose of winning the prize or his reputation or what ever. I respect that but not at the expense of my life and property let alone my day of fishing. The speed limits on land are set taking into every safety factor they can for the road surface you are traveling. I have never seen a study of boat speed limits giving guide lines for traveling on a piece of water with other boaters traveling 70 mph. The only speed limits are no wake areas to cut down on erosion. When I travel on the river from spot to spot I make it my responsibility to slow way down when passing close to others fishing when I can not avoid passing them. I also yield to bass boat fisherman who are fishing the same shore line. Why because I feel they are more serious about catching that bass than me but for a different reason. Some times I even tell them how I am doing and ask the same. There is no bass, prize, or reputation worth going 70mph on a body of water unless you are out there by yourself and then you can do anything you want. SIR.

Yea, you guys are right, I am going to get rid of my Bass Boat and pick up an aluminum V-Hull so I can’t hurt anyone.

    Idiots

That video of the bass boat was rediculous, thanks for sharing. For those of you who ask what overtrimmed is, there you go. That was a very small boat wake as well.

Everyone should always wear their preserver and kill switch when running on plane, no exception.

What have you got? Can I have some?

Wasn’t implying you personally meant anything.

Nothing meant by my post, just had to put one up of my own. Party foul, that guy totally wasted beer.

If we are talking opinions, we can talk about mine of how drinking and boating is a serious issue on our waters, but I would rather not.
