    Connect the batteries in parallel.

    + to +

    – to –

And run your cables off the + and – on one battery. (Rather than the + on one battery and the – on the other.)

This may be a dumb question. Do you really receive 2X the run time when you wire 2 batteries in parallel? I realize that you don’t get 2X the power output.

When wired in circuit, you can clearly see the benefits, however are there similar benefits wiring in parallel?

You get the same output and twice the run time. Assuming both batteries are the same.

A real benifit comes from trolling motors that use optimizer technology. As the sense the amps dropping on a battery, they automaticly cut the % of draw. So if you wanted to run at 75% power, and the trolling motor sense the battery level dropping, it might cut down to 40% power. By doubling you reserve capacity, you extend not only the run time, but also the power of your run time

agreed, but it only works if you trolling motor is capable of that. otherwise, it doesn’t benefit, correct?
