Look out Packers, Brett Favre wants revenge
    By Chris Chase

Championships. Money. Fame. Competition. Those are the things that drive most quarterbacks. Not Brett Favre though; he’s more interested in revenge.

According to a New York Daily News column by Gary Myers, a(nother) Favre return to the NFL would be motivated by his desire to get revenge on the Packers, the team that kicked him to the curb last spring in favor of Aaron Rodgers.

    Writes Myers:

One NFL source insists Favre can’t peacefully retire until he finds a way to get revenge on the Packers. He wants back into the NFC North so he can face the Packers twice. The Bears traded for Jay Cutler and the Lions drafted Matthew Stafford. Hello, Minnesota.

“Favre can’t stand Green Bay,” the source said. “He wants to play Green Bay and say, ‘I told you so.’ His bitterness is creating this. I think he’s calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven’t heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play.”

Favre won’t retire until he can get revenge on the Packers? So I guess he’s either going to sign with the Vikings, pull all the fire alarms at Lambeau Field or make Ted Thompson some very special chili. (I’m also not sure what Favre being “bionic” has to do with getting revenge, unless he’s planning some sort of “Six Million Dollar Man” type shenanigans.)

Though I’m as sick of Favre as the next non-Wrangler-jeans-wearing guy, I have to say, the thought of him coming back to the NFL with revenge on his mind is particularly delightful.

As if Brett Favre doesn’t try to force the ball to his receivers enough, can you imagine if he was playing a game solely for spite? He’d probably be throwing into quintuple-coverage every time he dropped back to pass. There’s a legitimate chance he could throw, like, 19 interceptions in the two games Minnesota would play against Green Bay. That would almost make up for having to hear incessantly about Favre for the next few months (he says in his second post about Brett Favre in the last five days).

as a lifelong Packer fan I hope the Vikings get him. he then can lose a couple of big games for them in December just like he did for the Jets and Pack before that.

I can’t wait to read the article that says he’s going home. And staying there. It’s getting old, and I wish he would just go away. You wanna talk about the poster boy for hanging around tooooooo long…this is the guy.

As a competitor, and football player, I truly understand the drive to prove something. However, Favre has nothing to prove. Unfortunatly, I think he’ll look back on this in 15 years and wonder what the heck he was doing. But, in the meantime, I don’t mind it. Drama, for me is only perceived. The perception lies within the meaning. Farve…doesn’t mean anything to the NFC North. Can he play. Yep. For a whole season…nope. Physically, he may be able to, but mentally, he’s near completion.

I have a hard time focusing for 2 months doing little to nothing. I couldn’t imagine 6-7 months at mach 10.

I think it could happen, not because Favre wants it, but because the Vikings have a history of hiring old has-been quarterbacks.

I heard being the Viking fans won’t fill the stadium, they decided to bring in Favre to help with ticket sales.

He has a tore muscle in his throwing shoulder so buyer beware- will you get the Old Favre from the first half of last season and the season before with the might Pack or will you be getting the Old Favre who looked like he was throwing the ball with a tore muscle in his shoulder the second half of last season. If he opted to get it taken care of after the season it wouldn’t be an issue but he didn’t and the muscle will not heal on its own. Either way I wish him the best I hope he plays till he’s 50.

The thing I don’t get is the vikes bring in this Sage guy who really is a nobody. Then they have the opportunity to go get Cutler, but nooooo Sage or T Jack is going to be the man. You can give all sorts of reasons why Cutler was a bad option, but at least the vikes would have had a very good QB to stabilize the position for many years to come. But now they are going to look at bringing in a washed up old man with a bad throwing arm for a one year run. The gunslinger has always relied on his arm strength. How many stupid throws has he made over the years but was able to get by because on his arm? I don’t think that will happen anymore.

As a Packer fan I really don’t care at this point. I don’t think it makes the Vikes chances any better. They will still fall short, Favre will do his annual retirement game, and the vikes still will not have solved their QB problem.

    What a well run organization.

    And the Packers are??

Like I’ve said all along, an old #4 is still better than a career backup and a guy who can’t think on his feet. Look at his stats over the last 2 seasons vs. TJack & Sage combined.

The hard part for me is having rooted against him for so long, it’s a bit conflicting. As for being sick of it, of course I’m not. We may be getting the first real QB in many, many years. For everyone else sick of hearing about it, quit reading and listening!! Us vikings fans are loving it!

Yes I agree but it was a good move by the Pack.

Kooty just so I understand, you would rather have an old broken-down Favre for one year instead of Cutler for 10? The point being the Queens decline to get involved with Cutler because they have Sage, but now they are jumping into bed with Favre? That is a brilliant move.

Only time will tell, but it should make for an interesting season. There is nothing I enjoy more than Vikings fans getting all excited after pre-season that they are going to win that first super bowl, only to have it come crashing down.

I just made myself chuckle. Remember the thread not long ago where many of us got a little too involved about who is/was the best QB ever. Anyway, many viking fans, myself included state #4 is not the best ever.

Let’s say the craziest thing happens and he comes in and leads us to a title. Now where does that arguement go??

Do I believe we automatically win the title with him, NO. Just like my odds much better assuming he’s healthy. Philly is going to be very tough to beat this year and New England could also be scary after watching them go 11-5 last year with a nobody leading them. The Giants aren’t going to be push overs.

The Culter deal was REALLY bad for the Bears. No one, and I mean NOBODY is worth 5 players including 2 1st round pics. Tell me one of those trades that actually worked out for the team getting the one player.

I would take Favre if he is willing to play for the league minimum. Play him in the final 2 minutes of the 1st hand and last 5 minutes of the game. For the other 53 minutes, grind it out with AP and Chester.

The Vikings will sign the wrong guy.

They should be beating down a path to Mike Vick…he’s 29 and healthy…and desparate to make an impact in the NFL.

I think the highlight to this whole thing is that fact that any Green Bay fan that jumped off the GB band wagon last year and was mad at the team, and became Brett Favre Fans (YUK) will now be Viking fans!( I think this should be maditoy too no saying.. ” I’m not a bret Favre Fan I’m a Packer Fan.” For ALL of those “fans” out there I HOPE IT HURTS!!!!

on a side note as a Bears Fan thank you for bringing 8+ interceptions back to the division. for those 2 games. Cutler can use all the help he can get this year! Thank you!

Maybe it was a bad trade for the Bears but did the Vikings even get involved? Technically for the Bears getting rid or two first-round picks is a benefit for them. It keeps them from drafting a couple more busts!

I have always been a Packer fan and not a Favre fan, so luckily for me I don’t need become a Viking fan. I was all for letting him go and letting Rogers play. Heck, I have ridiculed Favre enough over the last couple years that I have been accused of being a Viking fan!

Besides the day-to-day flip-flopping by Favre (wasn’t it just Monday that he sent a text message to Trent Dilfer saying he was not coming back??), I don’t see the big deal. He is a just barely above average QB at this point. Maybe you Vike fans think that is all you need to get you the rest of the way, but just wait for that killer INT to happen. And we all know it is going to happen…several times…and cost you some important games…

Oh the story lines this year will be dandy. The vikings are looking pretty good this year. Will it be another doh…. get to the super bowl and get slapped year? Farve is significantly past his prime and I look forward to the interception records each week.

Being an Eagles fan, I’ll be VERY happy if any of the other 31 teams sign Favre.

P.S. If Favre signs with the Vikes, I think I need to draft more NFC North defenders for my fantasy team, especially CBs, their point totals should increase nicely this year…
