Hi guys we all know summer is right around the corner and i’m curious about everybody elses feelins on putting on sunscreen and possibly getting that scent from your hands to your lures/worms/ect. What do you guys do to get that scent of your hands? I try to wash them in the river as best as I can but how about you guys?

If I think about it at some un Godly early hour, I try to put it on then and wash with some kind of non scented soap before I leave the house. I usually carry some mild liquid soap with me in case I need to apply it during the day but always wonder how that affects leaving a scent like you mention. Maybe it’s better to burn.

Ditto, I try to put it on somewhere I can do a good job of washing my hands afterwards. Sunscreen on bait = no good.

Don’t skip it though, too much UV = also no good…

I try to “wash” my hands after applying with sand/muck/weeds from the lake or river.

I ask my fishing partner to rub in on for me.

I’ve been using a couple of the different spray on sunscreens the last year or two and they work great. One of the best things about them is that you don’t have to use your hands to rub them in. The only drawback is that they seem to bother my eyes more than the cream types. I also always keep a bottle of liquid dial in the boat.

I will apply it in the morning but also I am not overly concerned about scent because everything else we touch will mask it (gas, oil, smokes, coffee, etc.)

I guess I never even thought about that.

What Ben said. The spray stuff works great, just remember to remove your shades before you spray it on! Ralph also hit on a great idea, the sand/muck whatever seems to work better for me than soap hand washing wise.

How is the scent going to stay on your bait? Isn’t it in the water as soon as you cast it out?? How do your wash your hands? In the water?
Seems like your bait would be clean after being put in the water.

I do wear sunscreen. Usually some kind of spf shirt with long sleeves and a big goofy hat that covers my face and neck.
My dad has had to endure a couple surgeries for skin cancer from working in the fields growing up when people didn’t know about all this stuff.
