Do you think it is recommended,or if it would even make a difference, to get a stainless steel prop for a 70HP yamaha? Does anyone know of any places that would be good to start looking at. I am in the metro area, but am open to online purchase also. Used props? Any info helps.

I have a 70hp 2 stroke Yamaha on 16.5 ft. aluminum fishing boat. I purchased a stainless 3 blade prop from cabelas when I got the motor new about three years ago. It is cabelas name brand. I can’t say that the performance was that much better or worse, but the durability has been very good. I’ve ripped up many props in my day, but this one still looks almost new. I recently purchases a new 18ft Aluminum with a 150hp Yamaha four stroke. I will be getting a stainless prop for it yet this year.

I am far from an expert on pitch and all that jazz, so hopefully somebody else on here can enlighten both of us.

I run a Yami 75 4 stroke and talked to the owner of Hannays marine about getting a SS prop and he talked me out of it. He said I wont gain anything and with that HP alum stock pitch is optimal. Also remember alum gives, SST doesnt so instead of get beat up and not damaged your gears, the SST props doesnt get damaged but you risk your internal gears instead… Thats what I got out of it… Good luck
