    Hello –

I am looking to purchase some rod holders for my lund fishing boat. It is a Lund Explorer SS 1600. It does have the thicker side rails so I am not sure what rod holders a person needs to buy. If anyone knows where I can purchase these please let me know. Thanks.

As folks see these out in the field, more and more boat owners are using or even changing to the Folbe’s.

Make sure they are mounted close to the inside of your gunnal or use the side mount brackets.

I’ve been very impressed with the rails that glass boats have on them. I installed rails on my Lund and I love them. You can mount a lot of accessories on the rails and change them out without punching more holes in the boat.

Does your Explorer have the Sportrac system built in?? I absolutely love the built in tracks on my boat. The tracks run all the way around the boat, both sides front to back. No drilling holes, nothing is permanent. All removeable in seconds. I posted a photo of the track system – Everything is fully removable, with no holes or damage to the gunwhale. The two rod holders and downrigger shown in one of the photos all come off very easily, and the rod holders are instantly movable if you need to further space out various rods.

As far as rod holders, there are lots of good ones out there. I do like my Tite-Loks (the metal cylindar rod holders shown in the photo), they work very well, are adjustable both up and down and left an right, metal without plastic parts to break, and very strong. The only thing you couldn’t do with them is run a rod straight back, but thats why I also have a few rod holders that lock the rod/reel into place.

One of the other photos that I posted is of the track itself. Runs about 15 feet or so front to back (each side) on my 18′ 2005 Lund Explorer.

The rest of the photos are just for fun. You can see the track / rod holders in some of them. I threw the musky and walleye photos in there just to keep you walleye only guys interested…
