Battle lines have been drawn. First signs of the little varments appeared last fall. Eye’s hoping they were just passing through but not the case. Figured as the fish’n info was top notch I’d inquire about moles too. Anybody have any top secret info other than what Google can provide?
    Thanxs in advance.

I’ve had great success with a product called TomCat. It is like a little gummie worm of death for rodents. It has you putting down a worm sized “treat” into the active runs. I’ve found that you only need 1/2 a worm to do the trick. I found it at Mendards.

Question. How safe is it to use aroung pets? I am afraid that one of my dogs might dig it up.
    Thanks

I’ve also had great results with a similar product. Not sure about pets..I’d imagine it would’nt be good for pets. Only took a day or so and there were no more runs!

I have got to get me some of that stuff mentioned! I trapped 4 of those @#$% moles last year, and swear a family of 9 moved in . I’ve always treated my lawn for insects, ticks, etc. I’ll give “TOMCAT” a try! My place looks like ‘caddyshack’ out there and the neighbors hate it when I start shooting .

I live in NW Roch and have Cascade Creek running right behind me. With the “un-managed” parkland, we see several of the critters each year. The problem with a mole is that it [one] can make your yard look like you have eight of them. I walk the runs down and then wait to see the furry little twinks pushing the dirt back up. If I see one burrowing along I just walk up on it very quietly and then stomp the sucker. As soon as I stomp, I dig. When I find fur, I toss it on the driveway and stomp once more. I’ve done about twenty in the last three years that way….two already this year.

They can wreck a yard in a couple days. We’ve got tons of plant beds and garden areas….I understand your dislike for them.

My wife found this home remedy in one of her garden magazines and it does work. We’ve had them at least 3 different times in the past 10 years and it has worked each time. I think it may chase them to the neighbors – in fact at least once I think we did but oh well my advice is don’t share this with them.

    MOLE CHASER RECIPE

    1 –1 ½ tbsp of Tabasco sauce
1 tbsp of liquid dish soap
    1 tsp of chili powder
    1 qt. of water.

Simply pour this tonic in mole runways and holes and they’ll run away.

I usually double the dosage of Tabasco/hot sauce and chili powder. We think the train of thought here is that they get the hot stuff on their paws and don’t like it so the hotter the better.

    Good luck

Using a drop spreader, put two rows of diazinon around your lawn… no food ,no moles
    Good luck

If they are moles, you got a lot of good advice already. If they are gophers (big piles of dirt in the yard), you need a cinch gopher trap (google it). Took me 3 years to figure out that was the best way to kill pocket gophers when I moved up here.

I used tomcat last fall and they were gone or dead the next day. I put six different grubs all over the yard and they were gone next day.

Two things, well three if you have patience. One-Talprid, it’s a worm bait doohicky, note their primary food is earth worms, not grubs, so forget the grub stuff for your lawn. Two-traps. Three, um, a 7mm with a nice scope and lots of time. Just thought of 4-the Rodenader, google it!

I have used the “mole chaser” liquid with much success just don’t borrow some to your neighbors as that will move them back to your place. When we were kids we would run the garden hose down an active run then get out the .22 and wait for them to come up for air.

Theres hardly a mammal alive that I cant track down and kill…. with the exception of a blind stinkin mole. I think Ive gotten 3 over the last 3 years. Ive tried eveything, and now, Im trying cats. They have time to sit out there and wait em out.

I’ve been trying to post to this thread for 3 days now. It keeps preventing me from using profanity.

I have a mole problem at the cabin. They keep digging tunnels under my brick paver steps. Then when it rains, it washes out underneath the steps. Last summer I relayed 2/3 of the steps (about 75 of them). I spent over 3 weekends doing this. Now that the frost has left the ground, the steps I relayed are as bad as they were before. There are mole holes all around the steps. I left them some poison treats last weekend and also bought some mole preventer fertilizer stuff last night I plan to put on this weekend. I really could care less what those %$%$%$ers do to my grass, but they better quit f..ing with my steps.

I agree with above–use dieazion–insect control –get rid of the grubs–you get rid of the moles–plus I have had great luck with a spring trap–loop type trap–find there runs–step it down–insert the loop with the run and set trap–works great and safe too–no shape points!!!

Careful on that website. When attempting to browse the gallery, it crashed IE a couple times.

    However, extremely cool product!!

They do not primarly eat grubs! The grub-x stuff is a marketing ploy only, do some research, they eat earth worms and you don’t want to get rid of those. Talprid works well, is easy to use, and safe.
