Boat flooring options other than carpet?

I am putting two sections of floor into my boat. What are my options other than carpeting. The more I think about it, i like carpet but I will get stained so quickly, hooks get caught in the carpet. I was planning on putting in two sheets of 3/4″ thick treated plywood then carpeting those sheets.

Is there some sort of a vinyl covering i can screw into place over the wood? Something that will have a rough texture so you don’t slip when it’s wet.

I’d like to be able to just hose this stuff off and not worry about it.

Also, i’d like it to be a solid sheet, not the vinyl that comes in a roll.

there are some vinyl floorings out there, I know Crestliner puts it on some of the larger boats. Check this link at Overton’s……but maybe some local boat dealers, or shops that make boat covers might have something.

Maybe use glassboard?? Not sure what you could use that comes in a sheet thats slip proof. Marine carpetings not as snaggy as it once was. We leave piles of muskie baits laying around on the deck and no problems snagging.

I would go with marine grade over treated, the new treated and metal don’t get along.

How about some kind of roll-on like Rhino Lining… I think it comes in white ????

Just found some stuff called Dri-Dek, looks amazing! The company is pretty proud of it though…. $66 for a 3’X4′ sheet…

Where can i find Marine grade plywood? Menards? What does regular treated plywood not play well with aluminum?

The green stuff they soak it in has metals in it and they can supposedly corrode aluminum. I don’t know firsthand but it says that all over the net. Plus, the stuff is extra heavy and you’re talking about a boat. I’m not sure why people always want to use the 3/4″ and never 1/2″ either. In the past, nonslip coating was paint with some sand sprinkled on it. I know, too simple.

The new micro-pro treated plywood that menards carries can be in contact with aluminum without any bad side effets. The older AC2 treated plywood would cause the aluminum to corode.

I am using this for your exact same deal. I found it at Cabelas. It’s Cabela’s Tuff Coat Non-Skid Coating Item:IK-016662. I dont know how to make the text blue and clickable. Sorry.

Yeah, i was thinking about just painting the boards grey and mixing in some sand, we did this for our docks and it worked out pretty well…

I want to go with 3/4″ over 1/2″ so i don’t have any flex in the floor, but maybe 1/2″ won’t flex as much as i think it will.

I used the tuff coat from cabelas.Great traction and you can hose the fish slime right out.

I took a charter boat out on Lake Michigan last year and they had a vinyl non slip floor and it was awesome. When I get a new rig, I will ask for it. If you go with Plywood, I just painted mine and put down sand. I have a form that I used to cut my floor out of that I can just trace on a new peice of plywood. I even have my batteries cut into the floor. You really don’t need the treated wood unless you plan on leaving it outside all the time. You can also use those stips they use for stairs that are sticky on one side and rough on the other.
