Sales Tax Question

    If you buy a boat in Wisconsin and register it in Minnesota, you only pay sales tax in Minnesota? And do you pay sales tax on the value of the boat, motor and trailer or just the boat?

    I’m pretty sure you don’t pay sales tax on the boat and motor. If you bought the rig from a dealer you already paid sales tax and if its a private sale you don’t pay sales Tax.

    I want to say the its the trailer value.

    Now we wait for real answer…

    Indeed only pay tax on the trailer. I purchased WI boat about 3 years ago, and only paid on the value of the trailer.

    I agree, Sales tax is only paid on the value of the trailer when you transfer registration.
