Dean – congrats on extending your April 10th 10# plus streak. Glad I was there to watch the master at work!! Honored to have our picture together…

And a special thanks for netting my PB Pool 4 walleye (9#8). What Dean didn’t mention in the thread above is that we were fishing side by side in different boats. After I hooked my “piggie,” she decided to head downstream toward his boat (and anchor rope). Dean artfully coached me to guide her to his net and boat 75 feet down stream. Thanks for the help and the teamwork!! I’m not sure I would have landed her without your help! It sure is fun to catch one of those big walleyes I’ve been seeing on this website!!

I’d also like to thank Jason Halfen and Greg Rudisill for introducing me to Mississippi River fishing. This was only my 5th day ever fishing the River. Their guiding expertise was very helpful in getting me started fishing the Mississippi. I can’t believe it took me so long to discover this jewel of a resource. And kudos to Dean for setting me up with the right equipment and James Holst for some very helpful information presented at his “30 Days to the Spawn” walleye seminar held last month at Skeeter Boat Center.

I’ve never caught a 10# plus walleye, but Pool 4 is calling my name. Will be back next week to have another go. Until then — best of luck to everyone this spring!!

    Sincerely – Dave Markquart

What Dave forgot to mention is they were both in different boats, but both in SKEETERS. Dean in his new WX1950 and Dave in his new WX1880. Now that’s living the dream…….

Dave,I really dropped the ball by not making sure you had a Beckman net in your boat.I am more than 100 % sure that you were not going to land that fish by yourself with that butterfly net. Gotta give ya credit though, most guys would call a 9.8 # fish a 10 pounder. No matter on the numbers, that was an awesome fish and honored to be a small part of it.Now that is havin fun fishin!
