Just curious, Has anyone ever seen a clam actually bite a bait? I witnessed it today, that thing had the jig and 3/4 of the ringworm inside it? I wont mention the lucky famous angler though
All the time. Dustin and I carry heavy bladed knives in the summer to pry open the halves to get the jigs back it happens so often. Primarily when we’re dragging jigs and livebait on… clam beads. No surprise there, eh?!

Nope we were fishing by Dustin on a “clam bed” today he seemed to be having a little better luck than us though
One way is to look at the shorelines during low water. The shells will tend to gather up in areas where water pushes into a shoreline preceded by a sand flat. There are many areas like this on the River. Clams need sand and current to keep them oxegenated and it keeps the silt from building up on them which would kill them.
