I’m looking to get a passport before June 1st. What place can I go to to get a passport ASAP? And should I take my own pics in or have the passport place do it?

Go to walgrees photo and say you need passport pictures, it takes 20 minutes. then go to courthouse. I just got my passport card (I have no plans to fly out of country so for me the card makes sense (land and water crossing) for half the price. I got it in 4 weeks. You should have no problem before June 1.
April 3, 2009 at 9:20 pm #765512there is a certin size photo you need and the head size has to be a certin demension. I went to pro x to get mine but i have seen a sign up at walgreens to get them. then you will have to send off for it. you can put it in to get it expressed but it cost more. even if you get it expressed i think it still takes about a month or so.
April 3, 2009 at 9:32 pm #765517I went to the Hennepin County booth at the sports show. But any Hennepin County court house will work. They do photo, form, the whole deal. I paid the expedite fee because I may need to leave the US for work. Expensive but I got it in 13 days.
April 3, 2009 at 9:33 pm #765518Go to a hennepin cnty service center and you can get the photos and apply for a passport all in the same stop. For an extra 30-50 bucks you can have it in a week or less.
April 3, 2009 at 10:16 pm #765533I went to a UPS store and got the photo. then took to courthouse. took less than 3 weeks without expedite
April 3, 2009 at 10:59 pm #765541gees I don’t know. But years ago Morley Safer from 60 Minutes got a pass port right in down town Los Angeles.. in minutes, plus a green card.. and other forms of I.d… I would bet if you cruised down town Minneapolis you could do the same if you were in a “hurry”…
April 3, 2009 at 11:47 pm #765547I’m in the middle of applying for mine. I downloaded the application form, filled it out on the computer and printed it. Be sure you take your birth certificate (it must have the seal crimped into it or you will have to get a new copy – in Iowa it’s $24 over the phone with a credit card – it takes about 2 weeks to get mailed to you. I didn’t check on how fast it would be to go into a court house to get one). Then, you can go to a post office that provides passport application service. $75 for the passport, $25 for the post office to process. The passport card is cheaper but if you ever fly to/from a foreign destination you would need to get the regular one – with no discount for having the card. Good luck.
wing_nutt3Posts: 129April 4, 2009 at 12:53 am #765563I expediated mine just to be safe, it took like a week. Real quick. waste of money for me to do that, but i was starting to cut it close.
April 4, 2009 at 2:28 am #765580Save yourself a long wait in line from going to the courthouse and go to the Post Office. Not all post offices take the pictures but gp on their web site and looking them up, I did mine there. I was in and out of the building in lesss then 10 minutes and I had my picture done there as well.
They told me two to three weeks. A freind of mine had his in less then two weeks.
April 4, 2009 at 2:59 am #765588I second that the US Post office is the way to go. I was in and out in 10 minutes as well. Make sure to bring two checks, or enough money for both the picture and the passport. When the pictures are taken at the post office, don’t have to worry about losing them or the pictures being the wrong size.
April 4, 2009 at 2:04 pm #765620I just went to the Dakota County court house in Hastings last friday. I need mine in the same timeframe. I just had them do the photo there. I applied for the passport card, cost is $20, and $40.50 for the rest of the fees, that’s including the picture. She told me delivery has been less than a month all winter, but lately expect 4-6 weeks for delivery.
April 4, 2009 at 2:08 pm #765623FYI-You probaly already know you’ll need your birth certificate. but one of the questions is, where were your parents born? (city, state). Had to make a phone call on that question! Good Luck!
