Bow Fishing on the Mississippi for Carp?

    Quick question, can someone please tell me if there is a open and closed season for bow fishing for carp on the Mississippi?
    Any information will help out.

    The guy that sits across from me…MNick forgets that he’s a cheesehead and has a hard time using the search on the WI DNR’s website.

    His question is: Can a WI resident shoot carp with a bow on the Mississippi year round, or is there a season on them?

    Spearing, Netting, Bow Fishing Regulations

    SPEARING AND NETTING IN BOUNDARY AND OUTLYING WATERS
    Wisconsin/Minnesota and Wisconsin/Iowa Boundary Waters: It is unlawful for any
    person to use a spear or bow and arrow in any manner at any time for the purpose of
    taking, catching or killing any gamefish of any variety, or to have in possession or under
    control any fish spear or spring gaff in a fish house (shanty).
    Wisconsin/Minnesota boundary waters: Spearing Season: Saturday nearest April 21
    to March 1; Rough fish may be taken by means of spears or bow and arrow sunrise to
    sunset only except for bow and arrow, which may be used on the Wisconsin side of the
    river from sunset to sunrise.

    There is a season. The WI DNR has a special spearing and netting regulations. You can find it on the WI DNR website. I don’t have time right now or I would post a link.

    Thanks guys…once I get done reading it to him, he’ll be good to go.

    MNick will be at the St. Judes benefit tonight…I’m hoping Chappy can keep him out the the Hushpuppies until I get through them.
