Hello. I am trying to put together a walley fishing trip to Oahe (SD) in June and was wondering if anyone could suggest a timeframe to have a good chance at success. I had heard “first 3 weeks in June” but thats a bit vague for me. Will be staying near Mobridge and any suggestions on timing or areas/gear are appreciated.

June is a great time and your location is perfect.
Kountry Kabins and Kampgrounds is a great place to stay and reasonably priced with all the amenities you’d need.
You have access to 4 nice launches all within a 5-20 minute drive. Just remember to play the wind….

If U r in the Mobridge area U will B fine during any of that time. The fish may B futher down the river by the 2nd and 3rd week all depends on how fast the water warms 
Gear: Boat, baitcaster reels, bottom bouncers, worms.
Spinning reels and lindy rigs work good 2 
I would take some #5 and #7 shadraps along also. 
The places fill up fast, sometimes right after the first of the year. Get your reservations in and I’d say the first twoo weeks you should be more than fine.
Here’s a couple of reports I wrote on Oahe last June. Hope they help you out a little. I think you pick a perfect time to go to the Mobridge area. 
The bite in the Mobridge area starts around mid-May in normal years and all of June should be good. Late May and early June are also good in the Whitlocks area, both north and south of the 212 bridge. By mid to late June the bite should be very good in the Sutton Bay to Cheyenne River areas. Wherever you go should catch lots of fish. The average size should be really good this year. Have fun and give a report when you get back.
