Just purchased a ’99 Crestliner 1750 with a Merc 75hp tiller today. I’m stoked because it’s a nice upgrade from my current boat. It has a minnkota 55 (12V)on the bow. Since I fish P4 a lot, I’m thinking this might be a little short on power… any suggestions? The boat wasn’t used at all last year and there is gas in the gas tank so I’m planning on draining the fuel tank. Any tips or, should I let a local boat dealer handle it? What else should I be thinking about? Thanks in advance! MIKE

If I was you I would run at least one can of sea foam evertime you put gas it will help alot that what I do. If you fish pool 4 you should know you need a 24 volt for all day fishing

Congratulations on your new boat. I have a used 80lbs Minnkota Maxxum for sale if you are interested. That should pull that your boat just fine. It is in the classifieds under motors

    When I fished out of a C-liner 1750, moving from a 12V 55lb troller to a 80 lb, 24 V troller was a REALLY nice upgrade.

Check the tires and wheel bearings. It’s a 10-year old package, and chances are good that the tires and bearings might need some attention. Also wouldn’t hurt to start with a fresh set of batteries. Check the livewell and bilge pumps, and maybe pick up a spare pump cartridge to have when one of the current ones fail.

Congrats on the new rig, I had a 1750 for 8 years, and it had a 24V 48lb thrust Minn Kota, For what I used it for, it managed, even on all day on my trips. High wind, high fast water flow is a different story. My friend when to a 70lb 24V, very nice upgrade…

    Enjoy it!

Congrats on the new boat. Sounds like a really nice ride. I upgraded from a 55 PD to a 80 Maxxuum on my 17 foot Lund to better handle the river. If you decide to get a new troller check with Wade at Jolly Ann, he sure treated me right Hope to see you and the new boat on Pool 4 soon!

Congrats Mike! You can’t spend a better buck than upgrading to a 24V motor. There’s nothing worse than running out of umph during a hot bite.
