Today it meant all kinds of crap floating in dirty water that was flowing to fast. But fish wise I’d say it pushs them to seek any kind of shelter to rest or to find those sweet spots that act like food funnels along the current seems.
Good tip…but as JJ commented, when the water temp drops several degrees in a short time the bite is turned off. IMHO until we get back up to at least mid 40s it will be very, very tough to catch anything…even if you are on top of dozens of Eyes as we were the past few days. They wouldn’t even eat tail hooked minnows on 4# test with a tiny splitshot…
Yesterday I cuaght 2 fish both sauger out of 10 ft. I agree with tom, we need the water temps back. And it could be a while. I knew this false spring would turn bad.
I’m glad i took JJ’s advise that today would be very tough fishing. I’ll sit at home and watch reports, wait for JJ to call with better news. Fished with him last friday and we knew things wern’t quite rolling yet.Caught a few small eyes and watched a couple large females get caught. Hopefully after this coldspell the water temp will rise and the feeding frenzy will begin!!
