I recently purchased a 2005 Ranger 618T with a 90hp ETec. The first time I turned the key to the ON position on the boat, the alarm sounds and doesn’t stop. The lights illuminate on the gauge, like they are supposed to during the system check, and then turn off. The motor starts and runs, but the alarm does not stop. The oil is full, batteries are fully charged and everything else appears fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve the constant alarm?

You might want to check your electrical grounds at the gauges and what not. It may be just that simple. Check (loosen and re-tighten all other connections) before takin’ it to your local repair shop. The simpliest little bit of corrsion will drive mechanics crazy………

Thank you for the input. I disconnected and reconnected the cranking battery, but did not check the gauges yet. I will do that next.

I had the same problem with my 98 90 merc. It ended up being that the motor wasn’t getting enough fuel. Check that and the oil lines to see if anything could be jamming it. Good luck.
