    Hi all,
I’m thinking about getting a bike soon, but not sure what to buy. I’d like something mainly for pavement but something that will handle trails ok. I don’t want to break the bank, maybe even looking for something used. Any opinions? This last hunting season was a real eye opener on what kind of shape I’m in!

I have had good luck with Redline bikes. I’ve had 2 BMX bikes and 2 mountain bikes. Last year I bought a Conquest and I love it. Its more of a road bike but will handle dirt too. With a change of the tires, it can be customized more for either surface. Get the clip in pedals too.

Gary Fisher made a very good line. Don’t know how there line-up is now, but one to check out.

I have had a Specialized for about the last 4 years… can’t tell you really much about it, but it hangs upside down from the ceiling in the garage real nice….

I have had the same Gary Fisher Marlin since 1995. Very good bike and still rides like new. Just took it in for a tune-up last week:)

I also have a Gary Fisher. The two or three times I had it out, it rode real nice, otherwise makes for a great ornament in the man cave. When I bought mine, I rode just about everything they had in my size, at three or four shops, test ride before you buy! Good luck on your search!

pretty tough steering someone in the right direction on this one. i’ve tried about every brand and style. right now i’m on a carbon fiber klein. go visit a small bike shop that’s been around awhile. ride a few around the block. once you find one, don’t be afraid to ask about swaping out parts. (pedals, seats, grips) a good shop will really cater to you. good luck!
