I don’t think that BPS is coming to Minneapolis at all.

and in the area of doing something stupid, I, still for the life of me, can’t understand why Cabela’s opened in PDC instead of LaCrosse. No interstate, no airport.. Somebody had photos of someone else in that situation.. or somebody got a Person SERVICE done for them..

Gander is hanging on by its teeth.. In LaCrosse they got rid of Steve, who had been there for 10 years.. and they have cut back the hours to the BONE..

and trust me, at Gander, if it doesn’t sell, it gets dumped to another store , by the refrigerator box size full..

I think that this is a mistake in closing all the stores.. Some times in business, you stay in business, even though you are “losing money”… I could see closing some of the stores but not all of them.. However, with the location of the main HQ, being out west, that probably figured strongly in the decision..

what you want to see is an ACADEMY Store open up here some where.. LaCrosse, Eau Claire, the cities.. but some where.. just to get their feet in the door.. and that will be the end of Gander..

Its too bad that for what ever reason, LaCrosse, gets less then Eau Claire.. the only reason that I can see for this is that the highways to the north used to run right through Eau Claire.. but for the life of me, I can’t see Eau Claire or Praire Du Chen as a bigger business venue then LaCrosse..

its business and its sporting goods business, so that alone should explain the mystery of what stays open and what closes..

I feel badly for all the employees and sportmen that are going to be affected by the closing. I live near
Sioux Falls, SD and I have heard rumor of that store closing as well. I hope not or all we have left is Scheels. I am glad we still have Dakota Angler, a locally owned store, but doesn’t carry clothing, camping and hunting items like Sportsman’s.

I certainly hope for the best for the dislocated workers and their families – not only for those being affected by the SW closings but in all business ventures. Toro lays off 230. John Deere lets 240 go. Trane lets 100 go. Seems every other day I pick up the local paper there’s another company consolidating or completely closing up shop. These are life altering situations for those impacted and I certainly hope everything works out the best for them. As for where I’ll purchase my next fishing rod or duck decoy? Not quite as important right now.

Great news!!! I have had nothing but problems with this outfit. Gun purchase bs, wouldnt exchange a Lakemaster chip, lied to me and said no one will take them back. took it to Cabelas, no problem… That gun guy at CR is probably better off in a different position anyway. Cabelas all the way…

Rangerski, I’ve read your post 5 – 6 times now.

I think the best thing I can do is to leave it there for all the world to see.

I think we’ll all be happy with you going to Cabellas.

I too read it a couple times Brian….. 23 stores closing, guessing might be about 450-500 actual store floor employees out of work at a minimum and some want to throw a parade, because 1 gun guy will be out of work… FYI, I have found that Cabelas (which I love to shop at) will take “Anything” back… they kind of have their own set of return policies. I am guessing they ate the Chip, or have more pull with LakeMaster, than SW did… LakeMaster Return Policy

    Yes….0% on guns and ammo
    5% on electronics
    10% on most things
30% on ice fishing and some clothing.

Nothing too impressive yet… I am sure it will get better in a week or two… What is impressive is how much stuff is flying out the door already.

I picked up a couple new muskie baits last night too. I believe they were 20% off.

true that. hate to say it but the prices weren’t compelling enough yet for me to pull out my billfold. probably a little later.

The prices for Rapalas weren’t valid in the system and they had to price them by hand. The guy working told me that ‘they’ tried to change the price and messed up the system. Not good.

I’ll bet the rapalas you picked up were quite a bit cheaper than accross the street… The pricing by hand was strictly to help the make sure the customer got the correct cost. You could have done the math your self and taken the % off the sticker price. The whole store was not restickered.

Um no the prices were not jacked up, the prices on the rapalas are what they have been for over a year, less 20%. Loomis had a manadatory price increase about nine months ago that is why the price on the wrapper was crossed out. If you check with the MSRP off the Loomis web site our rods are priced right in line with that, less 10%. Hope this eliminates any confusion. I don’t know maybe the guy above is trying to horde the deals to himself.
