All right guys, I’m getting the itch for open water like all the rest of you. Anybody had any luck right after ice out on ponds for bluegills? I assume they will head for the shallows and feed? I’m gonna go try it this weekend if I can get through the mud to get to my favorite pond. I’ve found some articles about using ice fishing jigs and a bobber with a very slow retrieve. Tell me your stories and lets go catch some fish!!

Go for it and let us know how it goes. I usually use a small bobber and a piece of worm with a small hook and a split shot but a ice jig would do just the same. I have noticed that they like gulp products as well, I usually just pinch off a piece of an old one and put it on a hook.
