I am from LaCrosse and was going to adventure to Alma for my first time on Friday instead of the zoo at Genoa. Hoping to get some advice as where to launch and where are some spots to try. If you will be there say hi I will be in a white Lund prov1800. Any help would be appreciated. I will return the favor if someone wanted to fish this area. thank you

Your that far north just go to Redwing & put in at Everts Resort Dean will give you the scoop he’s on top of the fishing & if its your first time the launch fee is on him

    Riverguide,

I assume you’ll come up the WI side. The launch is just past the Dairyland Powerplant as you first enter Alma. You can see almost everything you’ll want to fish from the ramp. Watch out for the wingdams on the MN side of the channel. Ask Lee at the Main Channel bait shop across the road from the ramp for the latest conditions.

That’s some good advice from John. When fishing Alma in the spring, I tend to fish from the dam down to the powerlines. The shallower water with wingdams is primarily along the MN side in this stretch, while the WI side has deeper water with more flow.

Some productive early spring strategies are to pitch the dams, drag the sand flats between the dams, or pull 3-ways with cranks along, up and down the channel edges.

Have fun and let us know how it goes. We need more consistent reports from P5. It is a great place to fish, and doesn’t get near the pressure that P4 does.

I’ll be out there. I will be in a Ranger 620. Red/black with white on bottom of boat..However I probably won’t be fishing in any good spots…

IF you are coming up to Alma on Friday you might want to wait until little later in the day. Landing is froze again but the endloader will be pushing it out tomorrow. Hopfully early AM. If you need to know if they did it yet or not check the bait shop at 608-685-4336. Otherwise I will post it ASAP when it is done…Otherwise belivdere is open…
