Where ever you can find it. Ammo is quickly drying up and getting very hard to come by. I work in the firearms industry and if you want some handgun or rifle ammo I suggest buying what you like or is available NOW.

    Have you tried Fleet Farm?
They carry .223 ammo, Wolf Brand.
Last time I looked, it was reasonably priced.

Not a big fan of Wolf myself. Won’t always cycle the AR and dirty. I run 90% Black hills, especially when after prairie dogs. Blue box if you can find it, red box if I have to. http://www.midwayusa.com usually has good prices. I have also bought HSM bulk from Cabelas and liked it for plinking.

As 690Reese said, get it where and when you can. Fear of the unknown has people hoarding all sorts of ammo right now. (Stop doing that people!!! ) 9mm and .223 has gone from $7.50/box to well over $12-$17 in some cases. Wolf ammo shoots different out of different guns. It is highly corrosive and PM’s and cleaning often is suggested when shooting it. Look for deals on 5.56 NATO ammo if you have a Mini 14 or AR 15. The leade on the bullet is a touch longer (Meaning the bullet makes slight contact with the rifling)and provides optimal accuracy. But make sure your gun can shoot it. You don’t want to shoot it out of most bolt action .223 rifles as it can cause damage to the chamber due to higher pressures. But 5.56 is a round you may find deals on at Sportsman’s Guide and Cheaper Than Dirt, Midway amongst others. This is what you will find as “Military Surplus.” I recently bought 800 rounds for about $7.50/box. And by all means, PM me when you find those deals!

Then you have the choice of 5.56 and .223.
