Is there anyone that knows how to recover a product key from a software program? It’s not a Microsoft program, it’s an off brand home design/landscape program. I’ve had it loaded on my computer for a couple years, and I want to load it again on my laptop. I have the disc and the book, but for the life of me can’t find the box with the product key on it. I am assuming it is in my registry somewhere, but due to years of windows, I don’t remember my ms/dos enough to figure out how to find it.

If anyone has a clue what I’m talking about, and has an answer, feel free to chime in.

    Thanks,
    June

You might get it from running Belarc advisor.

If that doesn’t do it I’d google the phrase “product key recovery”. You should get some free options there.

    Hope that helped a little.

I’d go back to the company you bought it from. Look for them on the internet. You may be able to get it from them, or at least get a contact e-mail address for support.

Most of the software I buy is a direct download and purchase from their web site. When I get a conf # or key in an e-mail, it goes into my Misc folder in my hotmail account. This way it is always saved in cyber-space somewhere.

You should be able to find it in your registery. Just open the help menu in the program that you want to recover the key in and write down the product id code. Close the program then open regedit do a search for the product id in the registry and you should be able to find the product key pretty close to the product id.

WARNING: DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE REGISTRY
