Got a 24 volt trolling motor but I need to know if I hook up the 2 bank charger the same way as normal??

Do I run a separate hot and cold to each battery as before and do i need to disconnect the jumper when charging it.??

    thanks

Most chargers have independent charging systems so you just hook up each +&- to the correct terminal and leave the jumper system in place because the charger is just seeing 12 v from each battery.

    Fishingfool,

Hook up each post seperately to each battery. The batteries are wired in 12-volt mode for charging purposes. Do not worry about the jumper when charging. Good luck with the new motor

This does not sound correct to me
I too have a two bank charger for my 24 volt system.
I have a positive and negative wire from the charger (four wires total)going to each of the batteries. The jumper, for the 24 volt system, connects the positive post on one battery to the negative post on the other battery.
I have been led to beleive that I need to disconnect the jumper when charging AND disconnect a charger lead wire from each battery, before reconnecting the jumper and operating my 24 volt system.
Are the two banks on the charger completely indepentant of on another?
If the jumper is left in place while charging, isn’t there a potential cross connection between the positive lead from one bank and the negative lead from the other bank?
Likewise, if the charger leads are all left connected during normal operation, isn’t battery power potentially lost due to bleed back through the charging system?
I installed my system with in-line disconnect switches on each of the aforementioned wires, so the way that I operate it is very simple.
But, I am anxious to clarify how the rest of you are rigging in this situation, for future projects.
    good luck

I leave the jumper in place. I have a MinnKota 3 bank
    charger. (MK330)

    Never have had a problem.

You made me look at my instruction manual from Dual Pro I have a 3 bank dual pro but I have always been hooked uplike that each lead has a + & – of 2 wires 1 set goes to each battery so all charger see’s is 12 volt to each charger and charges each battery seperatly it doesn’t mater how batterys are hooked up in series, only would matter in a parallel setup because ++ & — are wired together. I believe that Minkota recommends to unhook TM from power before charging because there is still power to the board even tho its off?

No need to unhook the jumper, run one lead to one battery and the other lead to the other battery and your done
I know it sounds wrong but it works great. No need to unhook any wires, just plug in when you get home from a long, hard day on the water

Did you mean that you run two leads (a pos. & a neg.) to each battery?
I need to get my arms wrapped around this one
The arguement that I am hearing is that each bank is completely independent of the other.
So, there is no chance of current, AC or DC, bleeding between the two banks, right?

got me questioning my set-up after reading the above, and here’s how mine is. I have a 3 bank system, one for starting battery, and one each for the two batteries for the trolling motor. Each battery has its own black and red lead coming from the charger. I do not disconnect the jumper when charging….just come home and plug it in. Been doing it like this for years, and no troubles. Hope this helps.

    YES

You have three sets of wires coming from the charger.

One plugs into the wall then other two wires that split into one positive and one negative on each.

Now connect one wire with a pos and neg to one battery.

Grab the last wire and do the same to the other battery

Leave the jumper connected to a positive on one battery and the negative on the other battery.

3 bank charger here also. + and – to each battery, leave the jumper connected, disconnect trolling motor power plug in is a must!!! or you will fry your circuit board.
